Umqobola Species in The Black Thorne Continent | World Anvil

Umqobola

They are The Natural Nemesis species of The Isikali people.

Their rolling speed is generally twice as fast as any horse. Averaging at 90 to 100 km per hour

They are creatures with manipulatable exoskeletons.

Their arms and legs are boney with arms like praying mantises but are made entirely out of bone.

They, very much like The Isikali can manipulate the bones on their bodies to control the path that they roll in, increasing speed and can turn and, uniquely can with the right timing can bounce off of trees. The ability to spike out some of the bones allows them to roll a fair distance up soft surfaces such as trees, being able to rise higher, bouncing from tree to tree.

Their ball form unfolds to their standing form, which is them both at their most dangerous and most vulnerable.

They have deadly, poisonous, acidic spikes on the inside of their form. To be stabbed one would be immediately be injected by the acidic venom, they will essentially be burned alive of the inside, before being ripped apart and pulled into its centre, where its mouth is.

They have no edges but have a network of holes that act in unison as ears or sensors which paint a stunning detail, anything within 5 meters, it loses its effectiveness beyond 5 meters until it completely fades, forcing them to rely on movement and muscle memory.

To have the best control of muscle memory, they will have a limited terribly. They are territorial, but that tends to apply to males or pregnant women, forcing pregnant women to stay in a male's territory.

Females tend to be slightly smaller, but their speeds are far greater along with their venom, the only time females grow larger is when they become pregnant to accommodate their babies, which are over a meter tall when born. Theirs is technically no limit to a female's number in birthings, but with each birthing, they keep growing and historically, have grown as tall as twenty meters in height.

When they reach those heights, their ecological needs grow so severely that they wreak utter havoc that they will kill and eat the males of their race and can rip entire villages to shreds.

The bigger a female grows, the more likely they are to birth and with every 0.5 meters above two meters, another child can be birthed.

The birth cycle of a female can last six months with eight months of recovery and child-rearing lasting another year before the mother will leave the territory.

Average Height
They average from 1.5meters to 3.5meters in their folded form, and are 2.2meters to 4 meters when standing.
