The market was once a popular gathering place within the Security District but due to its open space has become a densely populated area for those without access to homes. The accessibility to shops went down and so did the businesses where prosperous stalls have now been transformed into homes; although some stalls still remain functioning and provide mainly to those who now live in front of them.
