As the crews of the Dead Tree Pirates brought with them the Heartsbane Coven when taking to the Iron Isles through No Tale Refuge nearly two years ago learning of their desire to take over the kingdom. The Coven took full control of the pirates and marched on Neverdine sacking the city in the span of a day renaming it New Corlain...
New Corlain formerly stood as Neverdine in the Iron Isles for many years until the day that Neverdine fell to the hands of the Coven. Historian Theorin Forrel paid a special visit to the tavern in Lornon where Lady Alice Wentervein was spotted. From the chroniclers sources Lady Wentervein was there when Neverdine fell, and was due to make good on her oath to the people. After a few moments the history played out for him, specifically she described what took place leading up to the inevitable fall of the keep.
The citizens fell ill overnight after a suspected tainted shipment arrived from No Tale Refuge. The guards of the keep fearing an outbreak of the plague began to cull the sick from the walls. What took a lifetime to build back after the scourge was brought back to its knees overnight. The coven moved in, but not alone as they hosted a dirty parlor of mercenaries, and pirates by the hundreds easily outmatching the guard. The corpses expelled spores into the air, then there was nothing keeping people resolute or stout those that didn't flee, succumbed to the curse.
