for
The Blackwater Company Vessels
- A person who wishes to become a captain must have experience sailing and manning a helm, none will result in an automatic denial. Training can be made available prior to requests for captain appointments.
- Once a captain is appointed and has signed an agreement, assigning one of the vessels owned by The Blackwater Company, the captain will be held entirely responsible for the vessel and its assigned crew (NPCs and/or PCs). Failure to keep to the agreement will result in the ship being repossessed, no longer being a captain until said otherwise, and whatever other punishment is appropriate for the situation that led to this. Details regarding company property will be covered in said agreement.
- Training of the crew will fall to the captain, support can be provided upon request.
- All captains will maintain a manifest of their ship’s crew and update it when necessary to turn it into the harbormaster’s office.
- Keep proper ship logs. Document everything within reason when it comes to your vessel. If you don’t, other crewmen and women will. They are company employees.
- All manifests and any other reports are always read by the Admiral of the fleet; Jerard ‘Stone’ DeSirrus.
- Blackwater will handle the costs of any normal wear and tear on the vessel. Damage caused due to negligence of the captain may be docked from their pay.
- Anyone from leadership or the harbormaster office can inspect vessels at any time, including cargo. Captains of any vessel deemed unclean or damaged may face disciplinary actions.
OOC Rules
- The vessels belong to the Blackwater Company and were thought up by the Founders/Owners, players do not get OOC or IC ownership once becoming a Captain ICly. If you leave the company, the ship stays with the company. Think of any other company-owned vehicle.
- Always get OOC permission from Founders/Owners/Officers to use the ship that you’ve been assigned, outside of work things like joyrides or attempting to do something for another. Don’t be afraid to ask! The worst that can happen is the answer itself and nothing more. We pride ourselves in our work within the community and server, and that is reflected in how and where our vessels are used.
- Only those above the Green Blood rank can be considered to captain one of the ships that are best suited for your character. Not everyone can lead a Ship of the Line unless stated otherwise by management.
- Captains that want to change anything on the ships themselves will have to OOCly and ICly go to the Founders/Owners. Examples would be changing how many cannons are on a ship or altering crew numbers. Not doing so will also violate the signed agreement. Most of the time, the answer is yes.
