Shleh-T'/The Sun's Sea

General

The Sun's Sea, Or The Dunes to the natives, is a giant desert broken up only by a few cliffs, which often have carvings or markings that the natives use to communicate; warning each other about new dangers or intruding visitors. Occasional oasis' dot the land, though each is a number of days apart. Most oasis' can be identified by a village or tribe that surrounds them. If they are uninhabited, they can typically be found before they're seen as the indigenous people leave markers in the form of kites utilizing steam to stay airborne tied to rocks or to the trunks of Lily Trees that surround the body of water.

The Great Sand Sea

Otherwise known as "The big open space of sand with nothing in it", The Great Sand Sea is the most dangerous part of The Dunes. Not only do numerous creatures that utilize burrowing as their form of hunting, the Dunes are often windy, sand is easily displaced, and uncareful travelers are just as likely to sink beneath loose sand than to be killed by any creature that lurks beneath it. Mud traps are also cause for concern, created when a stray, brave rain cloud passes over a small or medium sized dune, the sand quickly condenses. Often travelers and wanderers run to the rain cloud in hopes of salvation, only to have their legs locked in a brick of solid sand as the mud hastily solidifies around them, making easy prey to any creature, should the rolling dunes not claim you first.

The Rolling Dunes

When the cold sea meets the super hot shores of The Sun's Sea, a heavy wind is created. These winds, impeded only by loose grains of sand, create a small region of the island called "The Rolling Dunes". Due to the wind's strange tendency to blow low to the ground, instead of travel up to the open air, and the landscape of the beach and desert behind it, a cycle of 'moving' dunes are often a cause of death for unprepared outsiders. The region is close enough to a middle point of a port and a marked village that numerous travelers wander into the region, completely unaware that when the heavy wind blows through the dunes will rapidly shift position.

The Sandstone Cliffs

Though numerous cliffs exists within The Sun's Sea individually, there is one cluster of these cliffs with enough variance from the others that garners it's own name. The Sandstone Cliffs is the most commonly traveled route for adventurers intending to reach the city from the southern port. Though it's chock full of hostile creatures, insects, and bandits, it also had a marked town in it's center that surrounds a large oasis. As well as many hot springs that dot the rocky surfaces, offering easy access to drinking water. It's also a route that daring caravans of traders frequent, as their products are more than welcome to both town residents and bandit clans alike.
