Purifier Blades

Purifier Blades are specialized melee weapons designed to combat the creatures and corrupted entities of the Bloom in the world of Largitas. These blades are not only physical weapons but are also imbued with magical or alchemical properties that make them particularly effective against the unique challenges posed by the Bloom.

Users and Training

Training: Wielding a Purifier Blade requires specialized training. Users must be attuned to the weapon's magical properties, often requiring basic knowledge of alchemy or magic. Warriors and adventurers undergo rigorous training to maximize the blade's effectiveness and to avoid the risks associated with its use.   Holy Orders and Paladins: Purifier Blades are commonly used by members of holy orders and paladins, who are often tasked with defending against the Bloom's incursions. These warriors often undergo additional spiritual training to enhance the weapon's purification effects.   Bloom Hunters: Specialized groups known as Bloom Hunters also favor Purifier Blades. These individuals or groups are dedicated to hunting down and destroying Bloom creatures, often operating on the front lines of the Bloom's spread.

Usage and Maintenance

Usage: In combat, Purifier Blades are used both for their cutting ability and their magical effects. The strategy often involves targeting the most corrupted or dangerous parts of a Bloom creature to maximize the purifying effect.   Maintenance: Maintaining a Purifier Blade is critical to preserving its magical properties. The blades require regular re-enchanting or reapplication of alchemical substances. Users must also avoid contaminating the blade with Bloom residues, which can dull its purifying effects.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Purification Aura: One of the key features of Purifier Blades is the aura of purification they emit. This aura disrupts the corruptive influence of the Bloom on contact, making these weapons highly effective against Bloom creatures, which often rely on such energies for their strength and regeneration.   Cleansing Strike: When the blade strikes a Bloom-infected entity or surface, it releases a burst of purifying energy. This energy can cleanse minor infections, neutralize spores, and cause severe damage to Bloom creatures. The energy is particularly effective against creatures with necrotic or fungal traits.   Anti-Regeneration: The magic within the Purifier Blades can inhibit the regenerative abilities of Bloom creatures. Wounds inflicted by these blades are difficult for such creatures to heal, making the blades invaluable in prolonged battles.

Types of Purifier Blades

Longswords: The most common type, suitable for knights, paladins, and other frontline fighters. Longswords offer a balance of reach and cutting power.   Daggers: Smaller, more concealable blades used by scouts and assassins. Daggers are ideal for quick, precise strikes and are often paired with other weapons.   Greatswords: Massive two-handed blades wielded by those with the strength and training to use them. Greatswords deliver devastating blows and are excellent for cutting through tough defenses.

Significance

Purifier Blades are often associated with legendary heroes and significant battles against the Bloom. Stories of these blades cutting through entire hordes of Bloom creatures or sealing away ancient corruptions are common in the lore of Largitas. Owning a Purifier Blade is considered a sign of great responsibility and honor, as it symbolizes the wielder's dedication to protecting the world from the Bloom's blight.

Raw materials & Components
Materials: Purifier Blades are typically forged from high-quality metals like Ebonium, a durable alloy that combines metal with Ebonwood, providing both strength and a unique resistance to the corruptive energies of the Bloom. The blades are often treated with special alchemical substances or enchanted with purification spells during the forging process.   Appearance: These weapons usually have a distinct appearance, with blade surfaces etched with runes or symbols of purification and protection. The metal often has a slight luminescence, hinting at the latent magical energies within. The hilts are ergonomically designed for comfort during prolonged use and are often wrapped in materials resistant to Bloom contamination.
