Recall Compass

The Recall Compass is a remarkable navigational device highly prized by explorers, adventurers, and scholars in Largitas. More than just a typical compass, it features a unique design and functionality that sets it apart, allowing its user to set and recall specific locations with ease and accuracy.

Uses:

Exploration: The Recall Compass is invaluable for explorers mapping new territories, allowing them to mark significant landmarks or safe campsites and easily return to them.   Search and Rescue: Adventurers and rescue teams use the compass to mark and relocate important sites, such as where a missing person was last seen or where supplies are stored.   Research: Scholars and researchers conducting field studies can mark areas of interest, such as archaeological sites or unique flora and fauna, ensuring they can find their way back without difficulty.   Treasure Hunting: The compass is also popular among treasure hunters, who can use it to mark the locations of hidden caches or significant clues during their quests.

Limitations:

Range: The effective range of the compass is considerable but not infinite. The connection between the main body and the crystals weakens over extreme distances or through significant magical interference.   Durability of Crystals: While the main body of the compass is extremely durable, the crystals are more fragile and can be damaged or lost if not handled with care.   The Recall Compass remains a symbol of ingenuity and exploration in Largitas. Its blend of practical utility and magical craftsmanship makes it a coveted item for those who venture into the unknown, embodying the spirit of adventure and discovery that drives the inhabitants of this vibrant and dangerous world.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Special Feature:

The unique feature of the Recall Compass is its ability to remember and point to the location of its detached crystals. Here's how it works:   Setting a Navigation Point: To set a navigation point, the user simply detaches one of the crystals from the compass and places it at the desired location. Once detached, the crystal emits a faint glow and establishes a magical connection with the main body of the compass.   Navigating to the Point: When the user wishes to return to the location of the crystal, they activate the compass. The needle will then align itself to point directly toward the crystal, regardless of the user's current position. This allows for precise navigation back to the set point, even over long distances or through difficult terrain.   Multiple Points: The compass can track multiple crystals at once. By adjusting the settings on the main body, the user can switch between different crystals, allowing them to navigate to various pre-set locations as needed.

Raw materials & Components
Main Body: The main body of the Recall Compass is crafted from durable, polished steel, ensuring it can withstand the harshest conditions. It is roughly the size of a human palm, with intricate engravings depicting maps and celestial symbols.   Face: The face of the compass is covered with a clear, toughened glass, beneath which lies a detailed map of Largitas, overlaid with a traditional compass rose. The needle, made from an enchanted alloy, is always precisely aligned to point toward the nearest active crystal.   Crystals: Around the edge of the compass are several small, detachable crystals, each about the size of a marble. These crystals are made from a rare, luminescent mineral that glows faintly when activated. Each crystal is held in place by a small, sturdy clasp and can be easily detached and reattached.
