Shanneans
The Shanneans are a species of semi-aquatic, humanoid lizards mainly native to the Beastlands. On Haven, they are mostly known as "Lizardmen".
They are cold blooded and don't have emotions in the same way as humans do, being generally much more subdued. Females and males look identical, apart from the males having colourful head-crests.
Despite their bodies being well-adapted to wet climates, they can handle both humid as well as arid anvironments. However they do not deal well with the cold, becomign sluggish and vulnerable as their temparatures drop.
Lizardmen are a young species and not very culturally advanced. They do not have an organized society with codified laws and instituations, and they would not accept one that was imposed upon them by an outside force. Their religion and arcane tradition is similarly underdeveloped when compared to other civilized species. However this will all change with time, though it will take a long while indeed.
Unwilling immigrants:
Lizardfolk, while originally native to the beastlands, crossed over to Haven during The Temors. Today they can be found in the Swamps, jungles, forests and deserts of Haven. They stick together in isolated communities as they do not do well with humans and their stratified, tiered societies.
Foreign species:
The Lizardmen have little contact with outsiders, but will treat them with caution and respect as they would warriors from another Lizardmen tribe.
The Shanneans do not like to live in advanced societies very much. It feels to them too removed from nature, too complicated and veiled in deception and falsehoods. They also generally struggle with things like maths, contracts or court etiquette, making them unpopular among other species to a degree. However they keep their word and generally just want to be left alone, so they are generally not bothered.
Hunters and gatherers go out of the village every day to gather food and other resources as the hatchlings stay within the village and learn from the elders. Warriors are greatly respected for their strength, being the primary defense of the village, while females are venerated as the heads of households and sources of new life.
Overall the society of the shanneans is simplistic but they are satisfied.
While they may make great use of their natural strength and utilize ambushes to great effect, their inability to compare to a fully armored warrior outside of their homeland prevents them from ever expanding beyond it.
In direct combat Shanneans do not commonly use armor or forged weapons, though their scaled hides and strength makes up for that. Shanneans are usually stronger than humans and possess sharp teeth so grappling is inadvisable against them.
Notably magic using Shanneans are very rare, so it is possible to use tactics and spells agains them that might not work against a magic-capable foe.
Biology
Lizardmen are like humans in most aspects, but they are equipped with natural weapons in the form of their powerful jaws, claws and scales, as well as a tail that allows them to swim very well. They also have some resistance to poisons and can hold their breaths for very long. They are cold blooded and don't have emotions in the same way as humans do, being generally much more subdued. A Newborn Species:Lizardmen are a young species and not very culturally advanced. They do not have an organized society with codified laws and instituations, and they would not accept one that was imposed upon them by an outside force. Culture
Hailing from the dangerous marshlands, Lizardmen value strength and survival ability over everything else. They also highly value nature and their environment, recorgnizing it as the source of their life and prosperity even as it is the main threat to their lives.Foreign species:

Lizardmen society is fairly simplistic. It usually is a collection of family-units organized into a small community under the leadership of the elders, respected for their ability to grow so old. One or more of the elders als practise magic to keep the villagers healthy and the spirits happy.Hunters and gatherers go out of the village every day to gather food and other resources as the hatchlings stay within the village and learn from the elders. Warfare
Shanneans in warfare are fairly primitive. They use clubs, spears and rock-slings, the same weapons they use to hunt everyday to kill their foes. They may pilfer more refined weapons when able, but they haven't the ability to manufacture more themselves. While they may make great use of their natural strength and utilize ambushes to great effect, their inability to compare to a fully armored warrior outside of their homeland prevents them from ever expanding beyond it.
Hunting strategy
Shanneans prefer to use ambush tactics, so one should avoid rivers, streams, marshes, bogs and dense foliage. In direct combat Shanneans do not commonly use armor or forged weapons, though their scaled hides and strength makes up for that.
