Tarmsworth
History:
Tarmsworth is the perfect example why magic is so distrusted on Haven. In Tarmsworth an entrepreneurial wizard by the name of Athar Obrenix had settled down after finishing his education. He was a benevolent figure, helping the people in town with advice and with his magic. He helped the townsguard by giving them enchanted swords and built himself a grand wizards tower. Those who knew him, liked him. Those who'd never met him, respected him.
It was 12 years after he arrived in Tarmsworth, on the 6th of Xariver in the year 325 A.T., that the town died. Reliable details are sparse, but the aftereffects are clear. Within 30 miles of the town, live has become borderline impossible. Walking, breathing, merely existing becomes harder and harder the longer you linger. The corpses of the townspeope are strewn about the town itself, untouched by rot or carrion, sun dried. Life no longer has a place here.
This, while exceptional, is but one of many reasons why magic is so distrusted. The most widely accepted explanation for what happened on that day is a magical experiment gone horribly wrong. More cynical scholars however suggest the current state of affairs was Athar's intention all along, sacrificing the townspeople for some nefarious purpose. The fact of the matter is, the town lies in ruin, the wizard's tower stands alone at the center of the destruction and Athers body has not been recovered.
