Lindon (lin-don)

The lindon is a nocturnal reptile found in most forests. They spend most of their lives in trees where they hunt small creatures using a paralyzing venom.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Lindons have a greying-green color and have long snake-like bodies with two front legs, but lack hind legs. Each hand has four toes, two articulated to the right and two to the left, giving them a grasping claw-like hand. Their heads are long and narrow with a tube-like snout. Their eyes are narrow with light markings around them making them appear larger than they really are. Both sexes have a rown of osteoderms running down their spine, but males have three exeptionally long ones at the base of the tail, these mating-display structures have a bright orange-red color with a dark spot at the end.

Genetics and Reproduction

Lindons are solitary, and will seek out a mate whenever they sense one nearby, unless the encounter ends in a fight. Females can lay up to 15 eggs which she hides in a tree hollow, she will stick around and protect the eggs for the months it takes for them to hatch, after which they survive on their own directly after hatching.

Growth Rate & Stages

Lindons grow quickly and become mature after about half a year.

Ecology and Habitats

Lindons are arboreal and prefer dense forests where they can hunt and nest in trees.

Dietary Needs and Habits

A lindons' mouth is very narrow and not made for chewing or tearing, instead they stick their snout into their paralyzed prey and suck their blood and bodily fluids.

Biological Cycle

Lindons are cold-blooded and are most active in the summer. During colder months they go into hibernation.

Behaviour

These nocturnal creatures are ambush hunters, they sneak up on their prey and strike with a venomous bite. Since they are sanguivores they may attack creatures of any size, making them quite aggressive. Although when not hunting, they prefer to be left alone.
