Barthven mab Mikel

A stout and balding shopkeeper with a kindly manner.
Barthven knows much of what goes on in the Breton Lands and may even have connections with certain secretive organisations within the kingdom.
Whilst recognizing the need for organised defenders in an isolated hamlet such as Vandel, Barthven is concerned that the cure may be worse than the disease.

He considers the group of young men calling themselves the Bagad Ruz, or the Red Band, who gather at the ale-house at the other side of town nothing more than bandits.
