The Dreadwood

Once an immense forest covering the Armorican peninsula.
After centuries of cutting away and clearing for farmland and pasture, from above Brecheliant would resemble not so much an amorphous growth, more the tendrils of a spider reaching out to encompass the land.
Although considered by many a bounty, the source of prodigious timber and game, the Dreadwood holds a magical, often sinister place in local folklore.
Held to be haunted by the pagan spirits of ancient folk who once dwelled here, Brecheliant is a lush, wet woodland interspersed with swampy stretches in the vicinity of the larger rivers.

Brecheliant is a cool forest with a mix of oaks, evergreens and plenty of undergrowth.

Anyone cutting cross-country through the forest with without following a trail moves at half speed and stands an excellent chance of becoming very lost....
