Though the demesne of the marc'heg (knight) Tanis, representatives of the landed families of High Forest (Breton- An Uhelgoad) make up a council that governs the day to day affairs of this insular community.

History
High Forest began as an oppidum, a hill-fort used as refuge by the Osismii Gauls against the Roman invasion in 57 BC.
