Visigoth

The Visigothic Kingdom was a Western European power in the 5th to 8th centuries, created in Gaul when the Romans lost their control of the western half of their empire. For a brief period, the Visigoths controlled the strongest kingdom in Western Europe.
They were expelled from southern Gaul by the Franks. After migrating to Hispania, the Visigoths founded a kingdom which was conquered by the Moors in 711.
A Visigothic nobleman, Pelayo, is credited with beginning the Christian Reconquista of Iberia in 718, when he defeated the Umayyad forces in the Battle of Covadonga and established the Kingdom of Asturias in the northern part of the peninsula.
