In 1663, a large section of
Eaglehaven fell to
summer bronchitis. The epidemy seemed to start all at once around Meed North, Shilf Row and East Folmiam. It spread rapidly across the east of the city and the body count rose steadily towards the 10,000 mark. Blanchian officials responded fast to the situation though, as per their ethos, only full humans were offered the potions to treat the worst of the cases. It is believed that some Citilians still managed to get hold of the remedies and pass it along to others in the city.
This happened in
Pinerest and
Penmillion a year later, and
Wolfreach three years after that.
Genocide Theory
Though proof has never been found, many conspiracy theorists believe that the rise of the disease during this five-year period is not a matter of chance. Many believe that the supplies of potion remedy for the normal strand of bronchitis were tampered with by the Blanchard Dynasty. They believe this was an attempt to cull the number of non-human races within the Bridging Lands under the control of the Blanchian forces. This theory was used as rhetoric and a rallying cry by many rebellion groups wishing to overthrow the dynasty. The Blanchard Dynasty has always vehemently denied this accusation, pointing out that the slaves were needed to help produce enough food for the empire and to destroy the supply of slaves would be against the interests of the Lightning Dragon Empire.
