Fuel Blood/Rheima

Fuel Blood known as Rheima by the Celestialist faith is a "naturally" occurring resource found throughout Essiothas in geological formations and or refined from the humors and bodies of lesser idols and or idolstock. In nature fuel blood is formed through naturally occurring processes through the decaying/breaking down of the remains of Warbodies or divine vessels of lost and forgotten past divines and lesser idols. These remains resided silently untouched for generations from where they were seeded into Essiothas by the Celestial Legion. The remains belonged to conquered and subjugated divines and avatars of past divine wars and conflicts before the Celestial Legion's ascension and abandonment of the world. The most significant of these conflicts occurred to reverse and stop the Breaking Age a time marked by the unraveling of the realm/universe by the abundance of powers/divines each vying for dominion over the order of the world.   Fuel blood ushered in the modern world through its use, the first industrial revolution came to be. This period occurred between 132 ADA to about 330-340 ADA. This renaissance marked a major turning point in history comparable only to the introduction and adoption of Rheima-infused crops and agricultural processes. Many technological innovations stemmed from this period including the development of many machine tools and the rise of mechanized factory systems. This era in history only came to an end with fuel bloods significant decline and new advancements in technology. Alongside the discovery of new abundant and easily acquired fuel sources and power generation methods. Primarily being essence and later others that directly started the second industrial renaissance.

Harvesting/extraction:

The Rheima industry, also known as fuel blood industry includes several continent-wide operations involving exploration, extraction, refining, transportation, marketing, and lobbying. The central nations in Vledath are the power centers of the industry controlling and administrating the whole of the industry. Rheima is used as a material for several industries and by Velestrialicism. Alongside the Essence harvesting industry the fuel blood industry provides 4.2 to 5 million jobs throughout several continents and takes in around 20 million Sevia yearly. Three main establishments provide the whole of modern fuel blood, the essence harvesting industry provides humors and fluids of their hunts, the fuel blood industry provides it through extraction and the samium priesthood provides the least through the right of ending.   Harvesting and extraction of fuel blood are laborious and time-consuming processes. Two modern methods have risen to meet the demands those being drilling and mining. A drill creates a long sealed borehole into the earth to reach the remains of the warbodies/divine vessels. These remains are then desecrated by mechanical means to optimize extraction quantity. The desiccation process is then put into effect all liquids and moisture are harvested and pumped and stored in sealed and encoded storage vessels. The drilling method has fallen out of favor due to the destruction of other valuable materials. Mining methods include surface and underground mining. Though both are labor-intensive and time-consuming they have become the industry's standard.   Surface mining requires the building of a shielded dome or facility to control hazards and limit production losses. After the creation of the shield, the rigorous and lengthy extraction process can begin requiring hundreds of tons of earth and rock to be excavated. Underground mining or sub-surface mining consists of digging tunnels and or shafts into the earth to reach the buried remains. Many extraction methods or techniques can be used to reach the warbody and should be considered when dealing with different situations.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Raw unrefined Rheima varies in coloration and unique patterns which are lost during the refinement process. The refined form is characterized by its liquid white marble-like appearance with gold and other threads of color mixed throughout it. Fuel blood has a slight whitish-gold glow which it retains even after refinement.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Fuel Blood is warm to the touch around 100 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The material has a slight glow which it retains after refinement around 12 to 13 lumens and 1 to 2 candelas. Fuel blood has mutagenic and or vivifying properties which can cause physical alterations.

Geology & Geography

The Celestial Legion and hierarchy of divinity seeded Essiothas before their ascension also known as the Great Sorrowful Abandonment by the faithful. Areas in which these divine remains inhabit are marked by increased biodiversity and the presence of numerous fora and fauna species. A direct correlation has been made between the abundance of seeded divine vessels and the quality and quantity of lesser idols in the region. In addition, these territories with abundant vessels are likely to possess aberrant alien ecosystems because of the manipulations and influence of different wills and powers.

Origin & Source

As the name described fuel blood is the literal blood/humors of past divines. Which flows through the earth after the seeding of Essiothas. Thow the great sorrowful abandonment erased the memory of the divines from the consciousness of the mortal races through communion, scholarly pursuits, and archeological studies and the appearance of the radiants the truth and history of the divines can now be revealed to the world.

Life & Expiration

Raw and unrefined Rheima is believed to be stable and has no half-life or expiration. The elements used in refining fuel blood do undergo deterioration lasting approximately a year. If not properly stored deterioration may occur at an increased rate.

History & Usage

History

Early History:

The first radiant Sosteneo I'Crisafi at 76 ADA (After Divine Ascension) introduced Rheima to the world through what would later be known as the rite of ending. Originally Crisafi established the Samium priesthood an independent "secular" body whose purpose was to extract Rheima through a heavily guarded method, from the corpses of the deceased, after the extraction process the bodies were used to seed Essiothas. Even to this day with Velestrialicism becoming the dominant religion throughout Vledath not to mention the other continents, the Samiums have remained all but separate in all things except location. Their focus remains on the extraction of Rheima and the seeding or terraforming of the world with the sanctified and purified corpses provided through the rite of ending.     Sosteneo I'Crisafi's objectives seem antithetical to the views of modern theologians, later radiant's ultimate purpose was the re-establishment and dominance of the faith within Essiothas. The original avatar was sent by the divines to embolden the Alloyed Order through teachings of and acts of reverence to the ascended divines all those of The Celestial Legion and the Hierarchy of Divinity. Sosteneo I'Crisafi established Crisaficism the first sect of the Celestrialist faith although their primarily focused seemed to be on terrestrial affairs. Their introduction of Rheima to Essiothas likely occurred to fulfill Crisafi's goal, that of destined expansion and colonization of the world. Many modern institutions arose because of Crisafi, who launched several successful expeditions and established the first modern colonial age. Their influence brought about the great age of expansion and settlement of Vledath. Rheima fueled this expansion allowing for the terraforming of new lands and the ability to produce large amounts of food crops through the infusion of Rheima. Though the processes allowed crops to grow bigger and faster they are described as not very appetizing, lacking any flavor or taste. Sole reliance on Rheima-infused crops can cause those consuming over long intervals to become severely sick.

The churches control:

With the discovery of numerous warbodies or divine vessels and or avatars seeded throughout Essiothas by the ascended divines an abundant and once thought endless source of Rheima was obtained. This development allowed the feeding of the general populace and directly led to several great population booms. After Sosteneo I'Crisafi's death and ascension, two twin radiants emerged to lead the faithful and the world. Aoife Veles the burning brilliance and her brother Osain Veles the first sainted rose to the title of radiant and quickly established Velestrialicism and the Velestrian church.   Unlike Crisafi our lady martyr Aoife Veles had no qualms with establishing the church as a power center and illuminating the tenets and ethics of the faith. Under Aoife and her brother's authority, the faith spread throughout the settled lands of Vledath. They quickly monopolized the graces and divine relics, powerful gifts/artifacts of the divines using them to impose their will and influence over the world. Utilizing these powerful artifacts and their faithful followers Aoife and her brother began the first crusades. Aoife Veles was believed to have enacted secret and hidden rituals to directly commune with and gain favor from specific divines, bequeathing the superiors of the faith this knowledge along with the names of and specifics of these divines. This favor merged in the form of knowledge, knowledge in the creation of what's widely referred to as the Golden Eyes the church's consecrated soldiers the first Soldaurs (altered supersoldiers). Under the leadership of Osain Veles's five anointed the church began its campaigns. Bloodily conquering all that imposed the faith equally putting both heretics and nonbelievers to the sword. Over several bloody death filled decades the church gained control of most of the world's fuel blood source and used them to power their war machines.   In 212 ADA at the height of the faith's ambitions, the twin gods decided to enact what would later be known as the ravenous rebellion or the great hunger in the central nations. Named after the church's ravenous power grab and for the ravenous hunger of the people that the church starved. Cutting off and destroying agricultural products that they provided and seizing and controlling agricultural centers/hubs of the central nations. Doing so to impose the hierarchy established a year prior by Aoife in 211 ADA. These events occurred several years after the church's victorious campaigns after the first crusade ended around 182 ADA. This action resulted in the church losing the support of numerous countries in the central nations, and the Ancient Alliance who were directly responsible for the church's creation and growth. These short-sided acts led to the deaths of millions and led the church's once allies to covertly support the immerging brightbound organizations. Which were formed from the secrets and knowledge pryed from the corpse of the Seeree civilization. 147 to 147 ADA The War of Enlightenment or Enlightenment Wars as they are known occurred. The central nations specifically the Ancient Alliance sought the Seeree's knowledge and gained it after the genocide of the Seeree people. This knowledge led to the creation of numerous organizations whose goals were to decode and understand the workings of magic. The brightbound as they are now known, fought using subterfuge and sabotage as weapons to fight the Velestrian church. A joint force of brightbound, various tribes, and faiths the forces of the Sanctum cities led by Arnarfell with the help of some members of the central nations successfully won against the church. After this, the church's power was split the central nations divided its resources among themselves. What remained of the church was forced to accept and undergo reformations.   In the spring of 257 ADA on the month of Talnot on the 11th day or 2U Utaniday, the twin radiants Aoife and her brother Osain Veles were "killed". Aoife ascended where Osain died in battle though not ascending instead his remains were quickly ushered off. Transported and safeguarded by the faithful later placed in a reliquary at the Tarxiem Hypogeum(church) in Anomora the Holyland and the birthplace of the Amnites becoming the first saint of Velestrialicism. Osains golden radiant spark or light was successfully separated from his remains and emboldened by the faithful. Becoming a guiding beacon of the faith and illuminating light for the devout and allowing the church to bestow the light on their chosen anointed. This divine light became known as the living light and guides and strengthens the church to this day. The church's monopoly and rule over the numerous divine remains finally came to an end and was avariciously seized by the Central Nations.

Modern History:

Directly as a result of fuel blood utilization the Central Nations went through what is referred to by intellectuals as the great leap (forward). Many emerging technologies greatly increased the quality and standard of life which can be contributed to the beginning of the technological renaissance. By 567 ADA, during the modern age known as the Turning age or the age of Iron pursuits, during the zenith of the modern industrial renaissance, Rheima had increasingly become scarce due to overharvesting. Most governments of the Central Nations had issued unpopular rationing orders these decrees were to mitigate shortages.

Discovery

Sosteneo I'Crisafi was the first to introduce the world to the discovery of Rheima. Not until the later years of Crisafi's life did Rheima's real potential get discovered.   The potential of Rheima as an energy source was discovered independently throughout Essiothas although Vardaim Valente Fraitlar by 132 ADA is credited primarily with the creation of a special refinement process, turning Rheima into a fuel source that has advanced the Central Nations technologies by centuries. Turning what originally was a marginal and supplementary agricultural miracle and industry into the most vital resource in the world.   Radiant inventor Amshir Calthall Odom d'Armdamieo on top of the discovery of the Elsyium and creation of the enlightenment network was accredited with the advancement in and modernization of the industrial refinement process of fuel blood. Producing highly efficient and advanced engines and generators. On top of his numerous creations and inventions that were powered by fuel blood.

Everyday use

Fuel blood was once the dominant fuel providing power to everything from automobiles/motor cars to civilian and military aerocrafts, to powering residential and industrial buildings. Its use was so commonplace in everyday life that when rationing decrees were implemented for all but essential industries life seemed to come to a standstill for all but the aristocracy, industry leaders, government the wealthy, the powerful, and the influential members of society. The attempts to resolve these shortages only resulted in driving up prices and limited its availability and ultimately threatened to end the golden age of industry. Its monopoly of the power sector was overtaken by Essence and now the Essence Harvesting Industries is the largest provider of power in the world.   The Velestrian church was once the largest food provider in the world producing over half of the food crops for the central nations. During the faith's infancy, Cristafism was provided land by the ruling bodies or granted land by lords, and landowners. Most of the faith's lands were inhospitable areas "gifted" by the states for the purpose of terraforming by Crisafi's priesthood. The faith originally used this land to house and feed the priest. There they were trusted with land management and terraforming and did so by extracting Rheima from provided corpses, these corpses are then used to seed life. The ruling bodies pushed faith into the everyday life of the common people. This was done for several reasons though primarily for land acquisition. With the rapid acceptance and conversion of the faith by the people the faith's power and influence grew. Though Sosteneo I'Crisafi provided terraformed land and food to the people freely.   Only after Aoife Veles was the faith's land transformed into production centers for Rheima-infused crops. Rapidly the church lands were developed into agricultural powerhouses. At this time the church was highly trusted by the ruling bodies and the people and Aoife used this trust to gain power and influence. She adopted the teaching "that death was an opportunity to bring new life" and required the faithful to provide their and their loved ones' corpses to the church. This act allowed the church to rapidly expanded giving them an increased amount of Rheima and bodies to seed through the rite of ending. These acts developed the church into the largest food provider overcoming the Sanctum City of Hvalshe. Though most of the church's land was lost after the ravenous rebellion or the great hunger seized by the central nations' governments.   Outside of food production, power generation, and being a fuel source for aerocrafts both Rheima and fuel blood are barely used in everyday life. A result of the government's strict rationing, sanctions, and prohibitions laws.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Many cultures consider Rheima a sacred substance and used it in various traditions and rituals. For example, the Amnites used Rheima in a sort of baptism adding a very little amount to a diluted mixture of herbs, paints, and other materials before applying it to the forehead and stomach of newborn infants. Other cultures have similar or even more unique applications. Though Rheima more than not is almost always associated with some form of divine or higher power(s).    The Velestrian faith was given a legal exception to rationing decrees and prohibition laws. The church used it in several practices within the faith and produced their own Rheima by the means of the rite of ending.

Industrial Use

Fuel blood is a key resource in many industries throughout Essiothas.   Used as an ingredient in the pharmaceupoeia industry and in other medical and alchemical industries. Mostly in the creation of powerful and potent medicines and in the powering of predominant medical equipment.   Rheima is a key resource in both the engineering of and the rejuvenation of the artificial lifeforms known as chimaera.    A reagent in fresh forging and grafting and in other brightbound fields. A primary resource in the creation of sheaths(clones) used as spare body parts and replacements limbs/organic prosthetics.    Used in various other industries and products.

Refinement

Fuel blood can be extracted from three main sources those being the rite of ending, essence harvesting, and extracted from the remains of the seeded past divines. All sources need to undergo refinement to enable them to be used as a fuel source.   Modern science has developed an industrial, mechanical, and alchemical process that can refine and distill the raw liquid Rheima into fuel blood. Though the process is heavily inefficient and time-consuming making the product quite expensive and difficult to obtain. The specifics of the refinement processes are state and corporate secrets.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

Harvested sideproducts:

Axyns is a crystalized cellular nerve bundle harvested from warbodies/divine vessels. Used by the divines to express complex weaves similar to weaves found protecting and administrating the Sanctum Cities. Axyns are harvested for research purposes for the purpose of reverse engineering and to edify and expand on the knowledge of weaves and casting. Customers include the brightbound, followers of the four visions, rationalists, the Velestrain church, and various other organizations. Specific Axyns were used to power and control the first aeronautic vessels these aerocrafts were bulky slow and unreliable at best but paved the way for later innovations considered the mother of modern versions. Studying Axyns the rationalist brightbounds have developed a synthetic version. These false or lesser Axyns could be grafted into their bodies to grant a variety of benefits. Null Marks are an example of this product in use for this instance used as a punishment by The Veiled Court to punish criminal brightbound.   The divine remains are made up of unnatural and synthetic elements. Many are beyond the understanding of modern sciences. These elements are being researched and studied by brightbound thaumafikators in the fields of meta-material development and have manifested interesting results. The future of these fields and the research that comes from them may result in the development of new and innovative alter arms and weave ware(magic items). The possible creation of promising technologies and materials shows a bright future for the mortal races.

Byproducts:

Ichor was the original byproduct of Fuel Blood/Rheima use and refinement. Ichor was identified by its tar-like appearance a dark, black, thick, and glassy liquid consisting of a mixture of compounds including high-density, vitreous and abrasive materials. Mainly crystalline and metallic solids formed in various shapes and sizes including jagged and irregular pieces. The production and build-up of Ichor have been all but eliminated due to the discoveries and inventions of the ingenious Radiant inventor Amshir Calthall Odom d'Armdamieo the golden mind.   Dust is the contracting opposite of Rheima it is the poisoning byproduct of fuel blood use. Dust as it is known is a black ash-like residue that remains after fuel blood is utilized. The impure solid particles that are left behind after fuel blood utilization specifically, refer to all non-aqueous, non-gaseous residues that remain. Due to the significant innovations in various engines, generators, and technologies that utilize fuel blood dust has become a significant problem in the modern world all but replacing Ichor.

Sacraments:

The essence harvesting industry deals with the hunting, harvesting, and refinement of lesser idols. Powerful and normally sacred beasts and or creatures. Once and still worshipped by numerous tribes and indigenous groups throughout Vledath. Rheima or fuel blood is refined from the blood/ humors of these beings where the bodies are harvested and processed into essence shells and burner units being the larger forms. Sacraments refer to body parts or fluids of these beings which are imbibed to produce a very strong euphoric high. Symptoms of sacrament use vary from the user but include vivid hallucinations, the rupturing or damaging of one's ardaer(soul), false sense of power, paranoia, altered reality, distortion of time, euphoria, confusion, anxiety, panic, helplessness, loss of coordination, skin discoloration, dilated pupils, a frenzied wild and violent state, physical and mental alteration and possible permanent psychosis.

Trafficking:

In some circumstances, pieces of the remains of lesser idols are smuggled out and trafficked in a global illegal underground network or black market. In other circumstances, illicit organizations hunt and capture these beasts to sell fresh idolstock and bloodstock to customers. Idolstock is living lesser idols kept alive in order for pieces to be freshly butchered and sold, whereas bloodstock is kept in order for their blood to be drawn for consumption and or transfusion.

Users and customers:

Customers are called emblazoned named after the heavy scarring/burn marks or blazon scars on their skin and flesh. The emblazoned claim that the pattern-like scarring is the appearance of the celestial script, which they claim is evidence of their communion with entities/power they believe to be the divines or other powers. Though likely just the musings of broken and depraved minds. The client base includes:
  • ostracized tribes who use sacraments to commune with their gods like the coven of seven or spirits. In the creation of trinkets, charms and equipment like idolskin armor once used to traverse the bright
  • brightbound use sacraments to strengthen their power and increase their chroma though temporarily. Also to commune with entities in the pursuit of and search of forgotten and forbidden knowledge
  • cults use sacraments to speak with their heretical gods and as sacrifices to empower them.
  • Addicts use sacraments as strong drugs.
Though often not talked about and seldomly discussed due to active campaigns to silence truth-tellers and fact-gatherers. The client base for these illicit drugs includes wealthy and powerful individuals and high members of the Velestrian faith, the seers of the faith are said to imbibe sacraments to commune with the celestial legion. Sacraments are said to provide unique and powerful benefits though the prohibition and classification as a schedule or class 1 drug on these illicit materials makes any research all but impossible.

Hazards

  • Apotheogenesis means (that which originates from the divine) it is a significant method of lifeform propagation on Essiothas. The hypothesis is that a moderate percentage of living matter on Essiothas arises from powers/divines. The initial process of Apotheogenesis is hardly hazardous though the aberrant life shaped/formed from the energies of the deceased divines by many different entities/influences can pose significant dangers. The aberrant alien life that can be formed by the manipulation of warbodies/divine vessels' power can be and often is dangerous and serves as a severe hindrance for exploration and extraction. Contamination of divine vessels is possible through unregulated and unsafe practices. Proper practices should always be the main concern for all workers, employees, and indentured laborers.

  • The Essence harvesting industry and Fuel blood industry have actively conflicted with the numerous tribes and cults throughout the six continents. The industries hire paramilitary, mercenary, and folk corps to act as private and armed security. The central nations have granted the authority to the industry the right to employ and maintain an international internal paramilitary security force. Those found communicating with or directly working with a cult or similar group will be charged to the full extent of the law including the death penalty.

  • Dust has become an airborne contaminant that negatively affects the environment and life in Essiothas. Dust is antithetical to life the opposite of Rheima, dust consumes and damages life and the Ardaer(soul) of living things, extracting life or energy from their bodies, and causing damage to any exposed skin and flesh. Physical Symptoms of dust exposure include the development of a pale or gray sickly-looking complexion, fatigue, hair loss, cell death, muscle pain, and loss, skin changes, loss of senses, diarrhea, urinary and bladder problems a variety of other symptoms. Psychological symptoms include memory loss, forgetfulness, confusion, delusions, violence, development of schizophrenia-like elements.

  • Dustmen are tasked with the handling and disposal of dust. Often drafted from prisons, the poor and terminally ill the unwanted and undesirables of the world. Aboard aeronautical vessels or aerocrafts, dustmen are sectioned off into sealed separate chambers connected directly to quarantined dust storage containers. With such negative effects and symptoms, it is not unusual for dustmen to become violent, hostile, and murderous either as a result of dust exposure or because of the stresses and hardships of the job.

  • Rheima's vivifying and mutagenic properties can cause physical changes and the appearance of deformities. It is highly recommended and mandatory for workers to always wear protective suits while working in restricted processing and extraction zones.

  • The extraction process of fuel blood is possibly the most deadly portion of the industry's operation. Hazards include floods, explosions, equipment accidents, electrocution, poisoning through toxic gas leaks, the development of mutations and cancers caused by exposure to the energies of the divine remains, mine collapse, and many others.

Shade Blood infection and attacks:

The shade blood malady has become a significant problem lately specifically in shrouded and intermediate lands where untouched warbodies may reside. Transmitted by contact through bites, scratches, or the transfer of and sharing of blood. To combat these threats the industry has increased its security presence and hired hunter guilds. The countries of the GAIP have reported a significant increase in sightings and attacks from infected and transformed individuals.

Environmental Impact

Fuel Blood exploitation and harvesting have significant adverse environmental and social-cultural consequences. Most significantly through the ecological impacts of the exploration and extraction process. Complete extraction of fuel blood and the vessel/remains that produce it can cause environmental desolation and ecological collapse. Improper following of procedures and regulations could lead directly to the infestation and contamination of the divine remains. Many entities and wills such as the "spirits" seek to alter the world and environments through Apotheogenesis using the warbodies as a catalyst, to create new alien aberrant and twisted lifeforms. This will not just lead to ecological collapse but the creation of hostile biomes and lifeforms which could not sustain the mortal races. Industrial professionals stationed in shrouded and intermediate zones/lands should remain mindful and practice and follow up-to-date safety precautions.   Many private and largely unlegislated businesses and organizations seek to benefit from fuel blood shortages through illegal operations. A large number of these groups originate from the mercantile city-states that make up the League of Free Nations. Unconcerned with the hazards and long-term effects these groups set up illegal mining or drilling operations. In hopes to sell off their ill-gotten gains to unreckonable and unscrupulous individuals within the industry. Causing environmental destruction and transformation which may impact numerous populations all in the pursuit of short-term gains.   Dust is now an airborne pollutant and a direct cause of fuel blood use. Dust's insidious effects on living things were weaponized by the church during their conflicts with the brightbound. To hinder the brightbounds movements from Xovjurasesh into Vledath via the Bering strait that connects the two continents. The church forces "tactically" deployed dust by means of aerocraft creating large tracts of inhospitable land now known as the dust wastes.

Reusability & Recycling

Fuel Blood is a dwindling resource its peak extraction point has long past and with the harvesting of the divine vessels/remains, the production of future fuel blood has significantly been impacted.

Distribution

Trade & Market

The central nations have monopolistic control over fuel blood and Rheima. Harvested and sold by powerful industrial dynasties fuel blood was once a staple of the modern world. Now fuel blood has largely been replaced by the Essence and Essence Harvesting Industries have usurped most of the power and control the industry once held.

Storage

Fuel Blood should ideally be stored in an airtight encoded/enchanted container(to prevent crystallization or ossification or mixture of external elements) that can withstand vapor pressure without the need for ventilation and should be stored at a stable and cool temperature. The storage containers of unprocessed fuel blood is legally required to be encoded(enchanted) to prevent manipulation by various beings, wills, and consciousness of the numerous lesser Powers on Essiothas. Improper storage can lead to ground and water pollution and the seeding of aberrant alien life through apotheogenesis.

Law & Regulation

Extraction and refinement of fuel blood are done through regulated industries. The Central Nations hold monopolistic control over fuel blood from extraction, transport, refinement, and production by holding industrial secrets of fuel blood production near to hand.   Industrial espionage is punished by the countries that make up the Central Nations by means of capital punishment. Any and all instances of industrial or corporate espionage and spying are investigated and handled by the Eidolon the intelligence and security organization of the Ancient Alliance.
