SySu Sap
SySu Sap is used in the creation of an aromatic beverage commonly prepared by pouring hot liquid over fresh or treated variations of the sap. Normally hot or boiling water is poured over the SySu sap though many prefer fruit juices, the product can be drank cold or warm. There are many different variations and types drank throughout the world, though commonly they have a cooling, slightly bittersweet earthy flavor with profiles including nutty, floral, grassy, lightly slightly sour, and fruity. A unique quality of this beverage is its release of nontoxic nondangerous chroma every SySu tree has a unique chroma signature that the product retains. Mixing different SySu sap with different sap collected from different SySu trees will allow the release of unique chroma patterns/ different colored energies from prepared beverages.
SySu Sap originates from temperate climates with the largest exports coming from Areth the new world. After the construction of the Masial Fortalice the only permanent structure which acts as a trade hub, built in the Maelstrom or the World Veil a storming wall of condensed swirling energies, which divided the world preventing global travel. But with the Masial Fortalice construction, the divide between the old and the new world was bridged. SySu sap comes from the SySu tree a stout thick multi-leaved tree. The leaves of the plant are cup-like and pulse with the plant's produced chroma. A byproduct of exposure to the Bright which protects living organisms from the worst of its effects. The leaves capture and allow the sap to pool which creates a sweet floral and fruity smell attracting birds, insects, and other animals who eat the sap and disperse the seeds through their excrement. The sap before its treated and refined is a colorful blue-green with streaks of other colors throughout it, though the color is lost in the refinement process turning white or greatly muting its color. The sap is either harvested from the older sap collected from the top of the leaves or by tapping the leaves. The aged sap has more developed sugars and flavors it's sweeter with more floral and fruity notes. While the newer sap tapped from the leaves is more bitter with more earthy grassy and sometimes sour notes. The newer sap retains more of the plant's chroma allowing it to release brighter more vibrant energies when made into a beverage.
Production of the final product the collected sap is refined and purified then either stored in a container like a bottle or dried either made into a shape or turned into a powder. The dried sap is more common mixing into liquids it's added to. The liquid sap causes added liquid to become milky but holds more flavor which can be overwhelming if too much is added. The third and most invasive way to produce and ship the product is to cut whole leaves from the plant permanently damaging the plant and either ship them whole or in cut-up strips or chunks. Which is added to boiling/hot water or liquid then strained out. This creates the freshest beverage generating more chroma release which looks like dispersing colorful energies. Older brightbound or Casters historically drank SySu sap this way believing that it would increase their chroma production and expand their chroma reserves allowing them to express more or stronger weaves. Though there is no Correlation and this belief has been disproven and rejected by the rationalist casters. As the uneducated misguided beliefs of less civilized and learned casters.
Variations in consumption the most popular way to consume the beverage is to mix the dried or powdered SySu sap to hot or boiling water or fruit juice. Then sugar or honey is added for flavor and to sweeten the beverage. In some parts of the world, a spice blend is added to the beverage creating a spicy warming drink depending on the spices added. In some colder regions, the sap is put into broths creating a savory beverage believed to be healthy and drank and used as a medicinal drink. In most places, the SySu sap beverage is drank in cafes while Hasha is smoked creating a very vibrant and colorful atmosphere with the purple smoke from the Hasha combining with the colorful released dispersing chroma from the SySu sap drink. Everyone from the lonesome poverty-stricken fisher to the wealthy factory owner or noble gathers converses and intermingles.
Manufacturing process
The SySu sap is heated up until its liquid like then put through different strainers in order to remove solid debris and other impurities. After which it is either dried being poured onto a heated flat surface or just put into a storage container as the sap. Cut up SySu leaves are not treated or refined they are packaged then shipped in a cold container.
Significance
The most popular global beverage in the world after water.
Item type
Consumable, Food / Drink
Rarity
SySu trees are fairly common in temperate and warm climates were they are farmed and harvested.
Tools
Knives are used to cut off the leaves of the SySu tree. Though in order to not damage the tree the sap can be gathered from the pooled sap collected from the large cup like leaves or by inserting a tap into the leaves, in which case a bucket or collection container is needed to collect the sap over time.
