Silage Boy
Off the side of the trail, under snow and leaves, is a large rudely sewn-shut dirty burlap sack. In the sack is a dead boy. The boy was 8-years-old, perhaps large for his age, blonde, with blue eyes; a typical northern European. Under his garments, his torso has been rudely sewn shut with twine. Most of his internal organs are missing and cavity stuffed with silage. He isn’t wearing any shoes.
Found north of Hepler in Bourbon County, Kans., March 16th, 1873.
