Tech Level Chart

Current Tech Level (TL): 5+1   Note some TL 5+1 discoveries are still being made and maybe are not common place in the setting, specially power. The internal combustion engineers are Very Rare and hydroelectricity is still not used.   This chart is talking about more normal technology. The Aetheric technology appeared in TL 5 and is used in all the 4 tech areas. This rules can be broken by mad science genius creating some rare unique stuff around the world, but this is like I said rare and unique most of time.

Extra Details

 

Aether

  • Aether is not like magic and don't suffer from the same disadvantages and is not affected by the same countermeasures.
  • Aether is considered something with the Gurps Cosmic Modifier and cannot be affected by normal Countermeasures.
 

Transportation

  • Aether Tech is used to make Airship lighter using a process to mix Aether to the normal building materials making it lighter.
  • Skyship use Aether engines to produce a effect similar to anti-gravity making the skyship fly without use lift gas like the airships above. The Aether engine need be powered by a normal power source like a coal steam engine or something else.
  • Trains are very common and some places developed more advanced train types and monorails.
 

Weapons and Armor

  • A new type of ranged weapon using Aetheric energy is starting to be developed.

Power

  • Main power source are the Steam Engines. In this world the Steam engines are well developed and efficient.
  • People already discovered electricity, but still not invented the light-bulb and the electric motor.
  • The combustion engine is still in development not found by normal people.

Biotechnology/Medicine

  • Medicine is a mix of TL 5 and TL 5+1.

Other Areas

  • The telephone was not created yet, but the telegraph lines already exist.
  • Mechanical computers exist, but are very expensive.
  • Electronic was not invented yet, people don't know the difference of AC and DC
