Clan Shadowhand

Clan Shadowhand is an Orc clan historically based out of Southern Alsan. After the emergence of an object known as the Orb of Dragonkind, the clan began rising to prominence with the other Orc clans revolt against King Kilrog, under the leadership of Warchief Tollar the clan first sacked Lutetia then joined forces with other clans to finally sack Grumashar and Kill the tyrant King.   The clan has not entirely deserved reputation for using underhanded tactics to promote itself. Avoiding direct conflict when subterfuge could work. The clan comes first, above anyone.

Like most Orcs clan shadowhand invoke the name of Gruumsh and other classical orc deities.

Shared customary codes and values

The Warchief is chosen among candidates put forward by the clan's shadow council (respected elders, magic users and soldiers), by the rest of the clan. A ceremony is held in which clan members must then publicly stand beside the chosen candidates. In the case of a tie, the two combatants must engage in public physical hand-to-hand combat at dusk in a 30 foot diameter ring. The loser of the fight must publicly concede or be put to death.

Common Etiquette rules

When meeting a stranger it's customary to throw your blade into the ground before you to show that you're not baring arms against them.

Common Dress code

Animal pelts, with a particular fondness for Jaguar pelts and crocodile leather. Shadowhand Orcs tend to decorate themselves with imagery and symbols that evoke that of an ambush predator.

Art & Architecture

Shadowhand has historically been nomadic, travelling in war wagons and yurts. They are meticulous leather workers but their study of the arts is limited to a more philosophical understanding of war.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Ancestor worship is a common practice among the shadowhand. Warriors honour their ancestors and share in their glory by seeking out victory and glory in battle and making the clan strong.

Coming of Age Rites

The age at which a child is named (childhood, (~10-15 months). When a new clan member takes their first steps   Clan name (adulthood) - (~12 years and up) - An adult must prove themselves in battle or make some other significant contribution to the clan.   Elder (possibly never) - Those with a say on the warcouncil who may have a chance of becoming or choosing the next warchief. Only granted to those deemed worthy by the shadowcouncil.
