The Cults of Fire - Elementals

Worship of the Elements is the oldest form of worship that exists within the world of Aporue. Only the most ancient druidic orders hold a candle to comparison in terms of longevity, but rarely are they treated with as much gravity or respect as the elemental cults.       The Dwarves worship it as Berronar and Surtur, goddess of the home and hearth and god of metal working and the fire giants. To many orcs and the human tribes she is Ogun, mother of life and craftsmanship. To the Elves of the Frozen Shore he is Peklank god of warfare, fire, and warden of the underworld. The Villani it is Vulcan, master of craftsmanship and patron of warriors. The Cult of Fire and its deity have as many forms as there are cultures in the world.     In cultures where the cult of elemental fire have a prominent position society tends to be more hierarchical. Whereas the presentation of sacrifice is appeasing to all of the elemental gods, subjugation in its all its forms is of particular enjoyment to the fire god - this can be in the abstract, as the smith bends the elements to his will in craftsmenship, and be more direct (as in the ownership and mastery of slaves).
