Deities & Religions

Religion in Gaien has a lot more certainty behind it than religion in our world. The gods in Gaien frequently take interest in the deeds of mortals, sometimes recruiting them into their interplanar conflict known as The Strife. As such, all sane mortals acknowledge the existence of the gods, sometimes electing to devote themselves to one court or another out of a kinship of ideology. That said, some mortals chose not to involve themselves in the divine struggle, content to live by their own will.   There are four Archdeities responsible for the creation of the other deities, as well as the various planes. Together, the four archdeities sired a child, Gaien, who is a plane unto herself. Due to parenting disagreements, the archdeities inadvertently killed Gaien long ago, leaving her body in the care of her children, the various Nature Gods .
