The Thirty Lost Coins of Lettuce Khan
The Thirty Lost Coins of Lettuce Khan were, as the name implies, thirty coins said to have been scattered across the Trianglestock Valley by Lettuce Khan himself. It was claimed by Drake that they were the subject of an ancient legend, however it was later proven that this was a lie and that Drake was merely an actor putting on a bit of a show for the Trianglestock festivities.
The Legend
According to Drake, the legend of the Thirty Lost Coins of Lettuce Khan goes as follows. Long ago Lettuce Khan encountered the cursed ghostly spirits of the Dumlore Shrine on the northern edge of the Trianglestock Valley. He attempted to put them to rest, but unfortunately he lacked any skill in curse breaking and was unable to do so. All he was able to figure out was that the thirty golden coins which the spirits kept in a special chest at the heart of their shrine were somehow integral to breaking the curse. Thus, he stole the coins and scattered them around the valley in the hopes that one day a man or woman with knowledge of curses would arrive and bring the coins together so that the spirits could be laid to rest. In order to see that this happened, he assigned one of his most trusted men to guard the coins, a task which this man would eventually pass on to his descendants, of whom Drake was the last. The Truth
As it turned out, this entire story was a fabrication. In truth, Drake was merely a talented performance artist of the Air Tribe of the Mongolems who had been hired by the organizers of the Trianglestock Festival to put on a bit of a show for any curse-inclined norn who might show up. The Thirty Lost Coins were actually just made of tin covered in golden paint and were scattered around the valley by Drake only a few days before the arrival of the Rap Orchestra at the festival. The only partially accurate aspect of the entire story was that the 'cursed ghosts' were indeed actual spirits who had been bound to the Dumlore Shrine since time immemorial. However, rather than being bitter about their curse, they were actually paid employees of Drake and actively helped him in his trick.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
