Gulzekne

The Gulzekne is a river delta located in the east of Agrua. It's the site of one of the world's largest cities: Bassech. Before the Agruans began their conquest of Aewith, the delta was home to a Merfolk settlement underwater. After Bassech was built, however, the corrupted and demonized shadows of the merfolk rise as Merrow to try and tear down the massive city.

Geography

Gulzekne is the entering point of the Wickraine River that runs through Argua from the Continental Ocean. The area is the best access port for merchants from Xuyang of Fuifei and built right on top of the entrance is Bassech, Agrua's largest city. The delta is made mostly of beaches that become marshlands. The marshlands, much to Agrua's dismay, make black magic easier to cast if draw on leylines. This just means more work for witch hunters.

Fauna & Flora

The delta is home to a variety of underwater alchemical herbs, reeds and other aquatic plants. The fauna is mainly made up of river bird, fish, shellfish, turtles and alligators. Merrow, demonic merfolk, also roam the area. The delta used to be home to a merfolk settlement, but when the Agruans raided the south and conquered a large amount of land, the merfolk were transformed into Merrow from hatred. They now breed and nest in nearby lagoons, caves and marshes. Wendigos often end up wandering into the area from the nearby forest, as well. In addition, since the Agruans burn magic users at the stake and deny them proper burial, there's always a handful of wraiths of unfortunate magic users.

Natural Resources

The Delta is better as tactical location than a place for natural resources, but the abundance of fish in the near waters make for a decent sea food market and the herbs underwater can be made into medicines if taken to the right person.
