Winged Resonance
I swear I saw them! It was faint, and only for a second, but I did it!
When someone resonates strongly with the Song they are playing, the world seems to shift around them. The light is diffracted, senses others than hearing feel numb and winged resonance appear. The latter is both the first and most visible effect of the song intensity, a pipe dream to the apprentice, old companions to the master.
Appearance
Winged Resonance takes the shape of small light butterflies, no bigger than a few centimeters and as small as a millimeter. Their coloration depends mostly on the Song that invokes them, usually a pale hue of a primary color. Experts are able to modulate their shade, producing a display of vibrant and deep lights flying around.
On rare occasion, they might adopt a different form, like that of a bird, a mere sphere of light or even a miniature laipour. It is not known where those rare forms come from, though some suggests they are rare mutation altering the shape of this poorly known species.
Behavior
These ethereal seems drawn to strong resonances of a Song. The more intensity and focus is put in a play, the more winged resonance it will attract. Yet, they don't display the behavior of insects drawn to a light. Rather than gathering at the source of the Song, the instrument, they idly fly around, circling both the tool and its wielder, fading in and out the sphere of influence of the music.
Hehe, what are you trying to do, little guy? Woah, there's a lot of you! No! Get back! The song's over!
However, when the sound fades in power or the song reach its end, they quickly rush towards the instrument in a splendid yet distressing panic. To an outsider's point of view, it would be like they are desperate to bathe just a few more milliseconds in the Song, afraid that they would die without the cherished resonance.
When a master of the art plays, they attracts an inordinate amount of winged resonance in a large area, so much so that the final rush cause an intense flash of light, able to blind permanently the unwary spectator. Due to that, many of the most powerful musicians always wear polarizing sunglasses, as to avoid being impaired by their own talent.
Ubiquity
Contrary to a long-lasting belief, it is most likely that winged resonance are not a manifestation of the Song, but rather small lifeforms on their own. Weightless and intangible, it is now believed that they are omnipresent and invisible beings, rendered visible by strong resonances around them.
