Giant Crab

The Ara as a people have developed a husbandry system catered to their unique circumstances, and since they rely heavily on the access to the The Subselar Boundary of the Castraversi, a large portion of their food comes from that area as well.
The most prominent of these food items is the several species of Giant Crabs that they fish from the Subselar and bring down to specially made "tide pools" where they raise them and prepare them as the main source of protein for their people. Crab farmers are a huge part of the trading system and are prominently known among merchants for their special methods of gathering the giant crabs from their native homes of the Subselar and to settle in specially prepared locations on the surface of the Planar or Selar where they may be built.
The special part of giant crab husbandry is the idea that not only is it a popular source of food for the Ara, it is also a place where they were inspired to fashion their armor, and even now a lot of body plating for the Ara warriors are inspired by the crab species they've fished. Each settlement has focused on a design specialty and some settlements can be marked by the version of body plating they've created inspired by the giant crab husbandry methods located near them. It's a unique way of identification that has several hundreds of years of practice and tradition, and one of the many unique aspects of the people of this particular Framework.
The meat is described as flavorful and filling, people who visit the settlements do make it a habit to visit the local crab dining places, as each one in addition to developing unique iconography from the crabs they fish, also prepare them uniquely to the area's offerings, if it be with a special sort of spice unique to that Selar or if it's a certain way of cooking, baked, steamed or fried.
On occasion due to special chemical circumstances and the strangeness of the Subselar, one might encounter rare [metal crabs], where trying to extract resources from said crab subspecies is considered a feat, but once obtained, the body plating that can be built can actually be used as a method of proper defense.
