The Yer
"Reclaim the past..." - The Chrestomath
The Udo's Ancestral Link
The Yer is an Ará word that describes an emanation and essential part of Udo attunement with their surroundings that is part of their Orthogene. It is an active principle that was first described by the Najak'ótapi and taught to generations from Ótapi to the Selars that Najak'ótapi descendants traveled to. All Udo can realize awareness of their Yer, but due to the specific desire to focus on a variety of attunement, only Udo of the Ará phratry seem to have a keener and far more robust understanding of it. The Ars mistrust the existence of the Yer, unaware of its source and deeming it forbidden craft, and in Sector Xalia which they highly regulate the word is used with negative connotations to describe fraudulent, unconventional, and dangerous acts. Despite the cognitive bias the Ars have about it, the truth of the Yer is that it is ubiquitous to all Udo, a special part of their specific division of precept and part of what designates them as unique from others. Those who are sensitive to this emanation are known as the Yeri in Ará culture.Manifestation
The Yeri describes the manifestation of this active principle as a calming glow that emits off the body as scintilla. These glowing motes extend away from its source by the will of its user, to interact with the environment. The sound of this emanation receives a description as a high-frequency hum. It is often visually compared to wings, even though the more common approach in metaphor is to describe the hum, leading to most of the observed types of Yer receiving a prefix of zun-, which is how they articulate the sound made.
