Satyrs

The horned, fur-legged, hooved satyrs are considered by Western anthropologists to be a subrace of tieflings. The satyrs themselves--insular, technophobic residents of the thirteenth province--do not care nor know what a tiefling is. Wanting nothing more than to be left alone, the satyrs willfully pledged vassalage to the Empire by signing the Sycamore Concord. They now live quite happily in their matriarchal ethno-state on the plateaus of the east, retaining their customs and traditions as they have been preserved for thousands of years, paying lip service to the Celestial governor without any real interaction with the Empire itself. They care little about the Empire, and the Empire cares little about them.   Satyrs have skin tones and hair colours across the same range as humans, with goat horns and cloven hooves. Some satyrs have tails, but many do not. They tend to dress as per tradition, in togas and extensive, elaborate jewellery. As per the Concord, all satyrs are considered Steel Caste, but it is likely that many satyrs growing up in Thirteenth Province do not even know what a Caste is.

Satyr Names

Much to the chagrin of the noble satyrs, their language produces names that often sound 'cute' to other races' ears, incorporating bleating and repeated sounds. Satyr society considers women to be superior, and all unique names are female; non-female identifying satyrs are given the name of their mother with the prefix Bah-, meaning 'child of.'   Examples: Peepachip, Teepimeek, Nobunobu, Popple, Zepinet
