Season 8, Episode 5: "They're Hollow Inside // A Confluence of Spirit" Report
General Summary
The Dream Team fell into the mists of Mind, slipping between the cracks of the What Was and What Is, and then crashed into the flowerbeds of Kauma Gonjodonque's garden, hidden somewhere inside the twists and turns of the Void. They found themselves at the foot of a great conflict (see Apotheosis), a cacophony of divine might, as the many gods of the world clashed wills — and then Jestyr, the Centurion, and the Horsemen of Abaddon rode up behind them.
Flint Penumbra and Gonjo charged the Centurion, and their allies held the gods and Horsemen at bay. Still wielding the Hollow Blade, Tesin invoked a spectral aspect of Carrot to aid her, and then the Jestyr was through the party's defenses, swinging wildly at her throat.
The Dream Team immediately formed into defensive positions, aiding the various side conflicts as they could, but focusing in as Wither Wraiths began to flow through the rift left behind by Jestyr, threatening them all with their sickly touch. As the pressure heightened, Flint decided to break away from his own conflict to help the Dream Team, hurling a plethora of strange magics out of the many jars within his robes. Suddenly the tables turned, Tesin finally attuning to the Hollow Blade, and something unseen clicked into place.
With a masterful swing, the Hollow Blade cleaved the mask of Jestyr away from Maximus Erebus, ripping a hole in spacetime that threatened to tear the garden apart. Lockette formed a barrier from her nanites, the party latching onto each other for safety as they watched the mad god and the Centurion smash together with the force of this new gravity, becoming as one. Other lesser servitors began to fall into the darkness, bits of matter upending those who clung to common ground, and then an unconscious Maximus drifted into the maelstrom.
Still within her heightened power, Tesin reached out into the nothing — creating hope for another in turn for her own ill fate — and a small form leapt out of the shadows, as Skittles caught Max's hand and pulled them both to shelter. But then even Lockette's structure began to crumble, and Isra called out to the mysteries of the universe, seeking a Window with which to escape. Her mind's eye sifted through countless futures, seeing the many roads that lead to their failure, until she found one that would not take them where they wanted to go, but to where they needed to be.
In a flash of strange light, the Dream Team vanished from Gonjo's garden... And arrived at a desperate battle just outside the Godshield, at the very edge of the Scoured Stars.
