Introduction
Looking at your situation, it’d be easy to admit that you’ve fucked up.
Regardless of your innocence (or lack thereof), you have been confined to the Sauna, a filthy organic prison that orbits one of the death moons of Bretheda – Varos. This hellscape of a planet threatens to roast your bones with every expedition, where you serve your prison sentence digging for the unique gemstones that form only in the moon’s mantle.
Only the Sauna – which hovers outside the moon’s atmosphere – holds any comfort, but the Barathu enforce strict discipline, and the residual heat does little to make your life enjoyable. Only your crew keeps you going, a gang of like-minded individuals that also serve as your bunk-mates and excavation team. You have spent the last 6 months in amicable companionship – although some days are certainly harder than others, and all conversation fades into silence…
Character Creation Restrictions
- Any Starfinder core race or Pathfinder legacy race (listed in Starfinder Core Rulebook, Chapter 13) is allowed for play.
- 10-point buy, max of 18 per attribute irregardless of racial, class, or theme bonuses. Points in Starfinder are one-for-one, not scaling, so 8 points takes a character from a 10 attribute score to 18.
- While I do not recommend playing an evil character in this campaign, you may do so with GM approval. That being said, I don’t recommend playing an entirely good character either, unless you have been wrongly imprisoned on Varos.
- You must have some relationship (whether good or ill) with your fellow players, as you have spent 6 months together. However, you may have personally been confined in the Sauna for longer.
- 0 credits are available to you, and your only gear is your prison clothes.
- Gear or other entities provided by your class or theme are confiscated, and may be returned during play.
- You may not own a starship, but may have been on a crew or owned a starship in the past.
- As a challenge, you must each select a role that you would take on a starship (Captain, Engineer, Gunner, Pilot, Science Officer). While this role could change as your character develops, the party can only have one of each role at a given time.
- Similarly, you must choose a role (Point, Camel, Ox, Suit, Blaster, or Scout) on Mining Team 6, which will define your early relationship with your bunk mates. While Skiv is currently the optimal Scout, this may change based on your character choices, and therefore is subject to change. On the other hand, Skiv cannot be your Point.
- You may not be a Drift Beacon engineer, as this would restrict your ability to join your party on certain expeditions.
- You must not have a favorable relationship with the Barathu, as otherwise they would not have placed you on Varos.
- Due to restrictions of the campaign setting and the story I intend to tell, you cannot have been born more than 300 years ago.
