Celestials Species in The Chronicle | World Anvil

Celestials

"I weave into you the power of Creation. Make reality your tapestry."   -Inpa, the God of Knowledge, addressing his five children

Basic Information

Anatomy

Celestial bodies are constructed from the purest form of Soul Thread, thus their overall appearance takes on a flowing, tapestry design. Most Celestials have flowing, multicolored hair and clothing, featuring desaturated colors from the entire spectrum. They are humanoid, and often lithe and pale, their bodies giving off a consistent holy aura.

Genetics and Reproduction

Celestials are created whenever a God weaves a Soul Thread into consciousness. This consciousness is made from a fraction of the God's power, but is able to grow at an exponential rate, until they are able to weave into existence their own body and abilities. With enough time and growth, Celestials are able to become Gods themselves, capable of weaving into existence many more Celestials.

Reality Weaving

Celestials are able to manipulate reality around them using the threads which make up their body. Upon their birth, this power is near nonexistent, and only grows in strength the more in tune the Celestial becomes with their own soul. There is no limit to the level with which they can manipulate reality, so long as they continue to grow, their powers will grow alongside them. Their abilities will continue to enhance, until they are finally able to ascend to Godhood.

History

Inpa, the first conscious, as well as the first God, observed how the Soul Threads that wandered oblivion aimlessly could be manipulated and weaved together. Over eons of learning how these threads interacted, Inpa was able to weave five beings into existence. These were his five children, the as-of-yet unascended Falla, Follurim, Nadurae, Nekroxis, and Paro. These five were the first of the Celestials. The first mortal beings. Over time, each of the first Celestials ascended to Godhood alongside their creator, each creating five separate pantheons of Celestials and Gods, which populated the Universe with various objects and laws, acting as the foundation of reality.    As the eons continued and Mortals swiftly outnumbered their Immortal creators, a great dilemma threatened all of reality. While there was immense freedom during the Universal Frontier, chaos run rampant as any Mortal was capable of becoming a God, and consequently altering the laws of the Universe irreversibly. A council among the Gods was inevitably held, and laws were set in place that would forever alter the relationship between Mortal and Immortal.    The Chronicle was written as a tome of unbreakable laws, dictating what Mortals and Immortals were able to do, and forbade the ascension of any Mortal to Godhood from that point forward. The coming years after the creation of these laws saw backlash from Celestials at a cataclysmic scale. Individuals who felt it was their birthright to become Gods refused to be denied, and declared war against the very beings that created them. Their desires eventually twisted their entire being, corrupting them from the inside out until they ultimately forgot what it was that brought out this malice in the first place. It was then when the first Anomaly was born.    What followed was the Gods' creation of Angels, and the subsequent War of the Angels, in which the Army of Angels battled against a host of Anomalies, whom sought to destroy as much of the Universe as possible. In the end, both sides were decimated, with only one Angel ultimately surviving the war, while every single Anomaly was sealed into a separate dimension, never to return.    Ever since then, Celestials have been considered an extinct creature. However, there was one Celestial who survived the battle, after being hidden away within a desolate planet...
