Knight

I stand before all to hear and see to watch a squire rise to become a knight. My blade is my honor and my armor is my duty. I shall not let temptation nor emotion cloud my judgement. My purpose shall be to defend the ideals and the people that make this fair nation.  My glory shall be that of bloodshed of those who dare threaten my purpose. Never will I stray from my path and do what I must achieve the goals to defend my purpose. My life will become one of sacrifice and suffering that would see most warriors break. But I shall not break and I shall not bow to enemies that would see all the progress of my people undone. I shall stand my ground and if necessary give my life to defend my purpose to the end. Only with my death shall I know that I have done my duty and maintained my honor. Unit Formations

  Single: Lone knights are often put into joint task forces with other dominions or sent out on lone missions of secrecy.   Squad: Numbering up nine, these knights are often sent into field missions on their own.

Equipment

Armor : The armor of a knight is a sacred thing for it is often passed down from one generation to another from a previous ancestor before them who was a knight. This armor can not be take by anyone else and is stored away until another family member rises to become a knight. Each knight has a unique set of armor that is modified to their specifications from the existing armor given to them. The armor is molded lighter or heavier depending on the user, along with upgrading it with certain equipment and technology.   Medical : medical gear is often given to one knight that act as field medic if the need arrives often carrying antibiotics, surgery gear, clotting foam and so on.   Electronics : their helmets are equipped with communication technology and a helmet hub that visualizes surroundings areas, targets, live video screens, systems damage and life support. Armor can be modified as well to the users specifications, targeting sensors, scanners  com scramblers, drones, data pads, hacking equipment, night vision etc.   Breaching Gear : Often need to breach rooms of certain danger, they can be from explosives to siege gantlets to get the job done.

Weaponry

Melee: Thought the idea of the use of a sword or and mace may seem outdated to modern warfare, they are quite effective when in close combat fighting as they are lethal when gun fire is not an option. Cause serious damaged to lightly armored soldiers who are ill prepared in dealing with such weaponry Rifles : These weapons are the main weapon of choice by knights when need to keep distance and remain mobile   Pistols : It may be small but it can be a lethal weapon depending on the right conditions.   Explosives : When all else fails, just blow it up. Everything high explosives to grenades are equipped to a knight.

Vehicles

  • Advance Dropships⁣ are used to transport them in combat zones often small light armored craft in order to get in and get out fast when needed.
Hover bikes are also use as they are able to cross all forms of terrain with ease and can got to place where other vehicles can't.

Structure

Knights follow a certain form of command structure, often following special operations command and due to this they are allowed to by pass most chains of command due to their missions, only the ones they do listen to are those of sovereign command and high ranking government officials. Often granting them secure communication line and support from artillery and aircraft if need.

Training

Knights are trained in close and ranged combat, along with several different types weapons foe use on missions. They are put though 3 month training exercises to throw them to the end only get back up with ease. Mental discipline is highly used in order for them to be weapons and not break in the middle of the mission. building breaching is also need as they need to enter building to complete missions. Survival training must be taken as well if they are operating on long term mission that take weeks at a time.Bonds formed with their team members to be effective in the field as well. Training also branches out into certain classes in order create specialists on mission.

Recruitment

Only those who show great potential as a soldier are chosen to be a knight often being physically fit and have been through intense military training in the army before being selected. They have to be citizen of the Kingdom of Van Carno⁣ and must be mentally stable. Once candidates are selected they put through a series of trials both mental and physical, with only a few being able to pass. Those who pass are given the rank of squire and are placed under the care of a veteran knight who will train and test them as long as it takes until they are ready. Once they deemed ready, they given the Knight's Oath and are accepted by their pears.

History

Post Cataclysm Age to Dark Age 

According to the oldest documents that were able to survive, the first knights that were formed, originally acted as cavalry units that were effective at flanking and routing enemy force with force and fear. Some would even lead soldiers into battle as commanders to show them courage in the face of death.

Age of Rebirth to Age of Revolutions

As the world began to rebuild itself and new nation rose from the ashes of the only, knights were given a different rule. With many of them becoming elite fighting force, with many knight specializing themselves in the different fighting styles of combat to become formidable opponents to face in battle. Many of them were easily recognizable by their armor and signature weapon, They were often placed in battalions as the vanguard and reserve forces and in order to ensure victory.  

Steam Age to Enlightened Age

As the steam became the power at the time new weapons were also being created as well, knight were reforged and equipped into steam armor to better protect themselves in battle against artillery and gun fire. These suits were equipped with jet packs, a steam engine, flamethrower and holsters for several weapons to be fired in rapid procession at a time in battle. The only melee weapons were used were sabers for quick movement and reaction time. The suit were also considered be difficult to wear as heat would build up making it uncomfortable to wear and need values to release the heat. As well as hard to move in as the steam engine was heavy, meaning you had to be strong just move around in it. The suits were designed for show as well as less durable metals were used to make them more mobile and not to be cumbersome and that guns were able to breach most metals at the time making much of the suit made of layered leather for comfort. Their helmets were also designed to be able to supply oxygen at high altitudes as well in order for them to remain conscious when using their jet packs.  

Diesel Age to the Atomic Age

Warfare became more lethal as trench warfare and many other weapons modernized as time past. Durable armor plating was given to ensure survival from bullets and shrapnel, but layered padding cover most of the suit to ensure mobility and some protection. Helmets were design designed to see in the dark and equipped with gas masks as chemical weapons were often used. Suits were also designed to be air tight to ensure they were not exposed to anything hazardous. Cloaks for camouflage and to keep warm in the trenches. Lenses to keep anything out of their eyes and field kit to uses when away from friendly lines. Fire arms were required more then melee weapons. But were used in attacking trenches as close quarters fighting was inevitable. Explosives were equipped as well to destroy fortifications and vehicle. Signal communicator to deliver coded messages back to command with intel from the field. Even their numbers reduced to squads to avoid mass casualties in the field.  

Age of Sparks to the Modern Age

Knights soon lost their purpose on the front lines and were assigned to special operations to deal with high valued target and other objectives. Armor infused with technology became more important as the world became digital and so did war. Combat armor became full plated metal and equipped with environmental adaptation in the field. Shields and melee weapons soon found their purposes in the field as they gave advantage over those who relied on guns in combat. It became easier to move around too when you can use stealth rather then charge at everything you see. The design of the armor was to pay tribute to the knights of old, along with a few technological innovations to the suits they are wearing. Adding enhancements to speed, maneuverability and reaction time. They have even been added to security details for high ranking VIPs and covert operations consider black ops and discredited by the government.

Ranks

  Squire - initiates in training to become knights, often pick for their skill in their military unit and are trained by senior knight. They are not allowed to take part in missions and must discipline themselves until they are knighted.   Knight Errant - newly knighted knights that are the back bone of a unit and often learning from their veteran knights the duties that come with the job and the meaning to be a knight. They often choose which class of knight they want to be as they enter the field.   Knight Sargent - experienced knights given the duty to ensure order is kept in a unit at all times and are often looked up to for advice and leadership when needed.   Knight Captain -  Veterans given the command over a unit and have complete authority over the team. They are to ensure that the mission is successful and their knights return in one piece.   Knight Commander - A knight with many years of command under their belt and are in charge of keeping tabs on several knight units at a time. They are often in a command center watching the unit via helmet camera to see progress and to see what action should be taken. They are most used as tactical commander but can still go out in the field on large scale operations.  

Classes

  Paladin - supports the teams with defense and tactical actions.   Sapper - tech and engineering expert often hacks and uses explosives.   Apothecary - field medic equipped with a variety of equipment for any battlefield injury.   Juggernaut - heavy weapons and breach expert, able to take on larger targets then itself.   Shroud - master of stealth and subterfuge, equipped with cloaking gear to ease infiltration.   Striker - fast and lethal, often uses speed enhancements for flaking and infiltration.
