Magica

General Infomation

Magicas are known to be elemental spirits that are given sentience as magical dolls. Many of these Magicas reside within crystals known as Aetherium Crystals. These are found throughout the land of Nexus, primarily within the region of the Nirath Empire. Rumors have it that the Magicas were discovered by a doctor that handled prosthetics for soldiers. One day he was caught in the midst of a powerful elemental storm which forced him to take shelter in a cave. On the way to the cave, he noticed an unusual crystal which he promptly grabbed while running for his life. Reaching safety he tried to sleep the night away, awakening to find himself being embraced by a prosthetic doll. This entity was sentient enough to withstand the barrage of questions from the doctor, curious as he was to learn how this creature came to be. Eventually returning home from the war, he focused on replicating the process of granting these shards sentience, offering this method to the Aoibheann Family, which would begin to apply the technique to many more dolls, and dubbing them "Magica". While not all Magicas had similar levels of intelligence, most were able to take basic orders, making them suitable candidates for weaponization. After losing a vast majority of the Wings of Estella and their forces to wars of attrition, automata like the Magicas were a resounding success, making them essential to the primary force of arms.

Social Intergration

Intellectual Magicas are considered to be equal in social status, if not higher than regular Nirathian civilians depending on their achievements. Often seen as an icon of their society, they are positively viewed by others, rather than feared in comparison to their Armsla counterparts. The mass production ones with no intellect are not treated as slaves, but not civilians unless they are able to prove themselves to do so. They are heralded as valiant soldiers, essential workers, and a common feature of everyday life. A Magica is common enough to see one walking down the street, but not common enough for someone to own one aside from the Empire. they are varied in terms of clockwork or sci fi depending on what doll-maker created their body frame for them to inhabit.
