Recollection of the Luminal Codex Scholar
The following is an entry of a former Scholar of the Luminal Codex.
...In the hallowed halls of the archives that once walked by my peers, I, a mere observer, witnessed the tragic betrayal of a man before his age as a divine. Arcadia, a now-ascended Divinity of the Holy Trinity, once believed in the sacred dissemination of knowledge to deserving souls. A visionary who sought the Well of the Aether with his disciples. In our joint efforts to guide Arcadia through the Well, we fellow scholars received only modest droplets of Aether's knowledge in return for our endeavors. Many were elated to obtain these morsels, few were infuriated, but none were vocal at this time. After numerous descents, the knowledge they imparted to us dwindled. The disciples' protests grew louder, prompting Arcadia to take a stern stance. He deemed the extensive wisdom acquired during his descent too hazardous for our minds, given our insufficient wisdom to manage certain pieces of knowledge responsibly, let alone delve into it further. As time passed, further disciples began to reject this collaborative effort to delve further into the depths of the Well. In the words of the protestors, "... if we were truly collaborators, surely we deserved a fair share of the knowledge he received." Upon Arcadia's return from the latest descent, he staunchly refused to share any further knowledge with us. Stating that from this point forward, any further knowledge he obtained was to be withheld for our safety in mind, the Well of the Aether's knowledge has grown too vast even for him to withstand lately. Displeased by this decision, the dissenting disciples clandestinely plotted to rebel behind his back, aiming to seal him and obtain control of the archives. With a trove of forbidden wisdom garnered from the archives, they patiently awaited the right moment to initiate the sealing during a descent. Little did they know, Arcadia had foreseen this incident through his premonition. Frustrated by the actions of his disciples, Arcadia sought punishment for those who had joined the rebellion. Those who were caught were metamorphosed into spiritual motes. They were confined within small jars through a binding spell, stripped of individuality, and forever tethered. These spirtual motes now reside in various archives as scholars, endlessly aiding only those deemed worthy by Arcadia of the knowledge they once exploited for their own gains. To this day, I have not been allowed to revisit the archives. A similar fate befell all the other disciples who were found culpable of inaction during that incident. I can only seek forgiveness from the Divine and persevere along the path we once sought together.
