The Goblin-followers of Wiz

By Wafflealley
"In the confines of their walls, their kingdoms, they are as giants... but when faced with the Great Beyond, the outside world! Giants are prey to gods...and monsters! Society is but one big tribe...then the rules change, then the tribes simply get smaller."
-Goblin Champion of Wiz
Moon-Moon

Biography

A loose collection of goblin tribes; fanatics that worship the Shadow of the Moon, Wiz. They are a more savage, free-thinking bunch when contrasted to their "civilized" counterparts. They prefer the simplicity of the tribe, doing away with the more civilized folks' frivolities. Things like "writing", "the market", "laws" and, most of all, "manners" are of hindrances to them. Things that their brethren from Gobolando embraced, things laden with sins and delusions! Abolishing such desires, and striving for power is what a true goblin should aspire for.   A true goblin fights for his own right to live. Such is the way of the world. This is only possible with a strong, mighty tribe at your back. A good goblin knows better than to wander off, lest they fall prey to the night. The night is dark and full of terrible, terrible things. Nobody dares help those poor souls that venture alone, for to the superstitious followers of Wiz, they are already lost.   The lawlessness isn't without order, as these tribes follow an unspoken set of rules; stay out of our business, and we'll stay out of yours. They do not care for anybody even just outside of their line of sight. The only exception is if they have something the tribe sorely needed, such as like food and other supplies. The tribes often conduct raids against each other, fighting for whatever scraps they can get, making sure no tribe gets fatter than the next one.   The strongest tribes are respected, their traditions, words of wisdom and practices carried on by the others. Great adversity, such as natural calamities or incursions from the outside world may bind them together, for a time, marking events called "welwalla", which roughly translates into "great desperation". After all, the one thing they hate more than the "civilized" way of life, is the civilized folk themselves.   These goblins have an intense dislike of any and all forms of literature and writing; preferring singing, dancing, and crude forms of poetry. Many of the teachings of Wiz are passed on through song and rituals, sometimes they are passed on during raids on other tribes, lecturing each other while pillaging their food.   Rumors speak of the strongest among the tribes, led by a figure known as "Moon-Moon". Outsiders that wish to follow Wiz often seek him out, as these sorts of outsiders are the only types that are tolerated.
