BioSpiritual Energy

The discovery of the late Doctor Sid Necrodge (also known as the supervillain 'Lich'), BioSpiritual energy is a smoke-like form of energy originally believed to be only artificially produced. BioSpiritual energy has a pale blue color and lets off a distinct glow, often moving in a slow smoke or mist-like fashion if it is not directed. Though it can be used to power machinery, its most notable effects are when it comes into contact with living creatures.
When BioSpiritual energy comes into contact with a living creature it causes a powerful paralysis to overcome the living body. Tiny amounts of the energy can numb specific bodyparts, but if enough energy makes contact it will flow through the creature's entire body and paralyzed them completely. The paralysis is best known for the death-like state it cases, slowing a creature's breathing and heartbeat to the point that only medical equipment can determine if they're alive at all. Typically these effects last for only twenty four hours, but they can be longer or shorter depending on the amount of energy used, or the physical condition of the creature involved (larger or supernaturally strong and durable subjects can shake off the effects of BioSpiritual energy faster or resist smaller doses).
Those paralyzed by BioSpiritual energy, provided their bodies do not come under further harm while they are incapacitated, wake up lethargic but otherwise unharmed by the experience. There are currently no known negative side effects to being exposed to BioSpiritual energy, and it has been considered for medical and law enforcement uses. However the secret to creating it is known only by Doctor Abigail Graves (also known as the Arch-Lich).
However while the scientific community has found no known downsides to the use of BioSpiritual energy, certain 'Magical Experts' claim the energy is not something of science but one of magic and that it does not simply paralyze the body but can inflict damage on the soul.
