The City-Plane of Ravnica

Within the City of Ravnica magical force known as the Guildpact guides and maintains the balance of 10 powerful guilds that control various parts of everyday life. This force was bestowed upon a planeswalker named Jace Beleren who travels the multiverse in search of secrets and knowledge. Unfortunately while Jace is outside the plane of Ravnica the magic of the guildpact is weakened and can exacerbate the already tumultuous guild power struggles leaving the Office of the Guildpact to settle disputes and restore balance.   A mysterious planar visitor by the name of Davriel Cane has appeared and wants an ancient guild artifact said to grant immense power and control of magic on this world. The planeswalker, a diabolist, has heard of a powerful demon and seeks to not only establish himself as a powerful figure but also create safety from a mysterious force that is chasing him through the multiverse. How he learned of this is a mystery but there has been some signs pointing to a mysterious benefactor.
