Katelyn Rebecca Remizov, born as Katelyn Rebecca Rain is an American-born, Russian raised journalist. Born in Dallas, Texas to loving parents Alexander and Mary Rain, before she was kidnapped by a human trafficking organization and raised as a prostitute. Katelyn was noticed by Vladimir Remizov when she was put up for auction by her captors. Having lost his daughter to cancer two years earlier, Vladimir tried to buy Katelyn’s freedom. When his offer to take her was turned down, Remizov became violent and killed her captors before offering her a chance at a new life.

The Kidnapping

As a child, Katelyn was an epitome of beauty. That’s probably what made her the target of an unknown prostitution trafficking organization. The day was July 24, 1989, just after her younger sister Clair was born, Katelyn was kidnapped. She was in her bedroom playing with her babysitter, Sara Taylor, when four large men broke through the front door and grabbed Katelyn, shoving a wet cloth of chloroform in her face. Katelyn’s babysitter Sara tried her best to save her, but she was shot and killed for her trouble.
For days after her kidnapping, the police searched for any trace of Katelyn or her kidnappers. Katelyn’s parents kept near their phone in case of a ransom call, but none came. After a couple months, the police decided to close the case. However, not wanting to give up; Katelyn’s father continued to search for her using his connections from past archaeological ventures, he never once gave up on finding Katelyn alive; he kept searching right up to the days before his death.

Hardship

Katelyn’s life after she was taken was hard with her captors constantly beating her when she didn’t obey or tried to escape, and through it all she never once gave-up hope that she would find her way home. For nearly eight years, Katlyn endured the harshness her captors put her through; like dressing her up in skimpy looking outfits and parading her around in front of middle-aged men looking to buy her to ‘fool-around with’.
It wasn’t until November of 1998 when she first met Vladimir Remizov at a private gathering for potential buyers. Vladimir talked with Katelyn for some time until her handler took her away. Feeling a connection with Katelyn, Vladimir asked if he could buy her freedom; when they refused Vladimir smiled and headed out the door.
Vladimir Remizov later returned with four men from his Syndicate and massacred every human-trafficker they found. After the bullets stopped flying, Vladimir went and found Katelyn and offered to give her the life she deserved. Not knowing where else she would go, Katelyn grabbed Vladimir’s hand and followed him out.

A New Life

Even though she still found herself missing her old family back in the States. Katelyn tried her best to enjoy the new life she was offered by Vladimir Remizov who decided to legally adopt her as his daughter. After graduating from a private high school in Moscow. Katelyn went on to attending the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the St. Petersburg State University.
In 2012, Katelyn took a job as reporter for CNN on international stories while working in her down time to locating her biological family after an article she found online about the disappearance and possible death of an archaeologist name Alexander Rain. By late 2013, Katelyn moved to Portland, Oregon after Vladimir passed away earlier in the year. With little to no leads on where her mother and little sister were, Katelyn formed roots in Portland for the next five years.
