Charity of The Sky
Capitol of the Aarakocran Empire, Charity of the Sky is a stone-built testament to an empire past its prime. Hewn-stone buildings spread wide, walled in by magnificent walls featuring a newer stunning defense addition. Aarakocran engineers developed a titanium-based net to protect the city of attacking Skyships, while allowing the flying Aarakocrans to thrive and soar.
Signs of the Aarakocran's former military lingers in every visible aspect of the city. Each neighborhood is structured clearly around barracks, with mess halls and dormitories having slowly shifted into other purposes with time. In spite of this, the city has not totally demilitarized, but instead focuses on military training and might for the purposes of mercenary work and assisting Cloudfont.
The population of Charity of the Sky is approximately 80-85% Aarakocran, which is markedly different than other cities an region.
Industry-wise, Charity of the Sky focuses on mercenary work, sky-fishing, produce-export, and craftsmanship. While not necessarily as glorious as their history could imply, Charity of the Sky is by no means impoverished or awful. It just lacks upkeep and comes across as run-down compared to its former glory.
The God-Emperor, Kaiser Flashbeak I, is a figure of much controversy, both internally and internationally. Internally, his critics claim he is arrogant approaching delusional. His defenders claim he presides over an awkward time in Aarakocran history and must navigate a deft line as to not incur the wrath of the outside world. Those who support him, tend to wish for the days of yore when the Dominion controlled most of the Cloud Sea. Those times, however, are so distant, that the majority has moved on.
