Northern Ghostwood

A dead forest filled with small animals, swamps, and undead.   It is common knowledge that once upon a very distant time, the Northern Ghostwood went by a different, less ominous name. It was fabled to have been a magical, beautiful forest full of rabbits, birds, dozens of types of trees, and countless, bubbling springs. However, sometime in the late AE years, something awful happened in the woods that completely devastated it. Within a short period of time, the rivers turned rancid, the trees died in disastrous fashion, and the wildlife wasted away, either dying or retreating to the edges of the woods.   Many theories have been posited as to how or why this disaster occurred. Some believe a cabal of witches and sorcerors failed to summon a demon and cursed the land. Others believe the progenitors of the Cogsire group tried a failed experiment that destroyed the land. Certain groups believe an angry deity cursed the land for it's perfection, seeking to force it into awful wickedness.   Regardless of history or theories, in the current day, it's a disgusting and scary place. Zombie gnomes, packs of skeletons, and masterless flesh golems wander aimlessly about the land. It's also a noticeably bad place to park a ship, with deep marshes and sinkholes along deep thickets or trees offering no good landing spots. Grav thrusters tend to struggle in these settings, so most competent pilots visiting the area will park on the outside of the Ghostwood.
