Great Schism
The Great Schism was a diplomatic crisis that occured between years 611 to 622 in the government of the organization of The Core. It consisted of a continuous trend of independentism among the many systems that formed the state, specially the ones further apart from the core regions of the galaxy.
It was fueled by many discontents among the various systems, whose main cause was probably the cultural chaos that the state has imposed via the overutilization of force, as well as the prevalence of the human race above other species and a lack of non-human-lead organizations/innitiatives.
The generalized discontent was product of many problems, among which a handful stand out:
Problems derived from the immobilism of the central government
A generalized lack of freedom of legislation for local governments
Faulty organization of the army and navy, which lead to overprotection of the core planets and underprotection of outer ones, prone to attacks and raids from pirates and corsairs
Events
By the 600's, a group of planets had been pushing for independence for several years, and their movements had been brutally banished by multiple dissuasion methods which included forceful deescalations and mass encarcerations. By 609, a large-scale raid from the Maissan peoples into the planet of Kyla left several thousand inhabitants dead, which sparked a large rebellion against corean troops stationed in the planet, and over the course of the next several weeks, it was deemed a rebellion by the central government. Weeks passed and the independentist sentiment grew stronger while the conflict raged on. [...] By 610, rebellions had been spread through the state, with a notable portion of the fleet resorting to treason in hopes to restore peace in the galaxy. By late 611, most of senate members stopped attending sessions at once and declared themselves in open rebellion as per the Strasser-Wolfeng alliance Treaty, quickly forming a united fighting force against the corean troops. The planets still part of The Core formed an emergency defense council soon after, recurring to all-out war tactics against the rebels. The conflict would last almost 11 years, from 611 to late 622, and came to be resolved with a solid diplomatic network between the rebel systems, which acted in unison and under outstanding leadership. Many famous admirals of the corean fleet would go down with their ships, including the legendary Admiral Kleen, which successfully defended against a loyalist blockade on Moya by 654 with but a handful of ships. Another important figure was Lei Haku, a Moyan diplomat that actively supported resistance fighters across the sector, often recurring to false-flag events and staged robbings to cede ships to the rebels before her planet declared itself in open rebellion. By then, she served as leader of her system, actively engaging in cooperative attacks against the corean fleets.
