Yokka

Yokka is a city located in the planet of Yaith, known for having very experienced astro-mechanical engineers, large scrapyards, costly luxurious hangars, and a Yaithian elite that governs the planet in an oligarchic way.   The settlement is located near the equator, on the region of Halmara, and can be seen from space because of its enormous scrapyard areas, where many interstellar transport companies, as well as empires, can often be seen selling their ships, which then undergo a long -and often unfinished- scrapping process by local employees.   The city is known as the 'phantom city' because of an old tradition. The story, known as 'the great vanish', goes back to the an ancient human settlement in the planet, supposedly called Yak-11 -Yaithian for Eleventh City-, which dissappeared in the long dune sea without leaving any trail behind. Initially, a long search followed, with many claiming to have found pieces of equipment typical of the city at least 200 kilometers away from its original foundation place. Days later a massive sandstorm would occur in the region, which as usual interefered with scans and communcation devices in such way it rendered most of them useless, at least temporarily.   Once the sandstorm had cleared, the city was once again found, now filled with sand and in very rough shape. Nothing survived what is now believed to have been an unprecedentedly large sandstorm, with only strong structures and solid rock walls surviving. No survivors were ever found, nor proof of there having been any life in the city before the storm.   The city would be renamed Yakku, Yaithian for 'New/Reborn City', and would come to be the center of Yaithian faith, with its old, still sand-filled city, becoming a cultural heritage site.
