Arcane Academy

The Arcane Academy was a place of learning dedicated to the teaching of the magical arts for four hundreds years. The Academy now lies in ruins after it was destroyed by a former student.

History

The Arcane Academy was founded 400 years ago by Kim Jin-Ae with the intent of teaching those with arcane abilities how to use and control their powers for the benefit of the world. Students of any age were accepted into the academy, though most joined in their late teens or early twenties. From it's inception, the school had a mission statement to install values of kindness and acceptance into its pupils and perpetuated the belief that magical abilities are a gift that should be used for the benefit of others, not selfish desire. Despite having no arcane abilities, Owen Harris was hired to become a professor at the academy at some point. He taught history and archeology.

Destruction

Approximately 400 years after its founding, the academy was destroyed by a former pupil named Luke Kelvari. According to Owen Harris, Luke had been a pupil of the school three years prior and was mentored by an instructor named Rolph Ardenheim. Ardenheim was considered to be the most powerful mage in the entire academy and often selected what he considered to be the best and brightest pupils to teach in private classes. He was extremely cruel and strict with his pupils, forcing them to carry out seditious games and rituals for his enjoyment. These activities included forcing students to harm one another in dangerous duels and even murder innocent peasants. Rumours of Ardenheim's activities circulated the academy for many years, yet the archmage was never challenged on his behaviour out of fear for how he could retaliate with his incredible power. When Kelvari returned to the academy, he attempted to murder Ardenheim by burning him to death with magical fire. In his rage however, he quickly lost control of the spell and the fire soon engulfed the entire academy, killing a number of professors and students including himself and Ardenheim. The Academy was shut down indefinitely the next day.
