Human

Humans are a species of sentient, bipedal mammals with bilateral symmetry. They are the most numerous and dominant species in the known world. Species that bore structural resemblance to humans (bipedal gait, two arms and two legs, opposable thumb) are referred to as "humanoids".

Biology

Humans give birth to live young and have the ability to reproduce with a number of humanoid species including; Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, and Halflings. Human skin tones range from dark brown, through lighter shades, to pale.   Like many other species, they could be sensitive to The Weave, a mysterious vital force that flows through everything and gave special powers, most commonly referred to as magic, to those who learned how to manipulate it.

Society

Early human settlements were dependent on proximity to water and—depending on the lifestyle—other natural resources used for subsistence, such as populations of animal prey for hunting and arable land for growing crops and grazing livestock.   Humans are highly social beings and tend to live in complex social structures composed of many cooperating and competing groups, from families and kinship networks to political states.   Curiosity and the human desire to understand and influence the environment and to explain and manipulate phenomena have motivated humanity's development of science, philosophy, magic, religion, and other fields of knowledge.

Relations With Other Sentient Species

Being the most sucessful colonial species at migrating and adapting to dominate new lands, means humans have often come into conflict with other sentient species. Despite having no known common ancestor, Elves are often referred to as Humanity's oldest cousins due their physical likeness and common living proximity. The first contact between humans and elves is estimated to have happened over 50,000 years ago.
