Tieflings

Long ago, the Tieflings lived in shambles, scrambling from place to place in hopes of finding a home in such a competitive continent. Drawn out conflicts kept pushing them southward, until the whole of their race faced the endless desert. It was then that they performed a miracle: they built a civilization on the dry ravines that bordered the Dayim Desert.   Their country today, Manafiq, is ruled over by the Holy Brace; the Marriage chosen by the caliphs (the high priests of the Thadian faith) of the land. The couple is seen as blessed by Thadia and together they manage the decisions of their Sultanate. Through almost no conquest, Manafiq has become quite rich and is generally seen as a neutral meeting point for diplomacy. This is because the Tieflings have worked hard to create a large, continent-wide trade network that makes deals with both Wild and City races; The sight of a Tiefling merchant is an image that is familiar to nearly all races.   Throughout the centuries -- particularly after their reign began to take serious hold -- the Tieflings have tried their hand toward conquest of the exotic and mysterious lands of the Dayim Desert. There they've faced the Haashir many times, who hate all outsiders but hate the Tieflings perhaps the most out of all. Tiefling lords sometimes decorate their halls or trappings with images of elephants to show onlookers that they are superior to their nomadic enemy.   The Tieflings believe in the Merciful Thadia, a kind, loving goddess who they profess their dedication to. Due to this, culture revolves around humility, love, and peace -- or at least it’s meant to be. In any case, Manafiq has peaceful trade with every single nation in the continent. Tieflings usually cover half of their faces, as other races often see them as an aberration between them and the so-called ‘Wild Ones’. Their covers function as a gesture of civility, showing that they reject their ‘bestial’ nature and embrace life amongst the proud, ‘civilized’ nations of the Continent.
