Goedling of Emerling
King Goedling of Emerling
King Goedling emerged as the rightful heir to the throne of Rasfadal, following the untimely demise of his father and ailing brother. Born with a keen intellect and a natural talent for governance, he stepped into the realm of kingship with a vision for expanding the kingdom's dominion.
Goedling's reign was marked by a series of decisive conquests and astute diplomatic maneuvers. Seizing the opportune moment when the kingdom of Meras was entangled in internal strife, he skillfully subjugated the defiant Bisdom of Soravia, expanding Rasfadal's borders to their widest extent since the legendary conquests of Looras the Great and his descendants. It was under Goedling's banner that the kingdom once again attained a majestic splendor, with his name becoming synonymous with military prowess and territorial expansion.
Yet, Goedling was not solely focused on the art of war. He recognized the need for internal reforms, particularly in the intricate laws of feudal inheritance, in order to end the internal rebellions once and for all. He discussed long and often with his council on how to maintain the merit-based laws introduced by his predecessors, while still satisfying his vassals. In the end, he was forced to bring back old inheritance laws, allowing only the lowest layers of nobility to be accessed through merit.
Tragically, in the year 1230AP, the great king Goedling breathed his last, leaving behind a kingdom that had experienced an era of expansion and legal refinement under his sagacious rule. Goedling was succeeded by Staar II, who would end up to be the last king from the line of Looras the Great.
