Wilm Helmling

King Wilm "the Poor" of Helmling, of Rasfadal

Wilm was the successor of his uncle Jayms III through his mother Rosa, Jayms III's sister. He inherited the throne in 988AP, following the short reign of his uncle. However, his legacy would not be one of greatness. Wilm was born in 942AP and ruled until his death in 1003AP, becoming known as one of the poorest rulers in the history of Rasfadal.   Despite his cunning, Wilm was extremely corrupt. He undid many of the reforms of his uncles and grandfather, economic decline and social unrest. The established nobility was none too pleased with Wilm as their king. His rule was marked by greed, cruelty and decadence, and it's surprising that he was allowed to rule for as long as he did.   Wilm's downfall came during the Spring Festival of 1003AP in Hofendal. The people had had enough of their corrupt and ineffective king and the atmosphere turned volatile. The shouts of angry curses at Wilm could not be silenced, and a riot erupted. In a moment of chaos, the king was caught in the middle of an angry mob and beaten to death. It was a fitting end for a king who had done so little for his people.
