Buomaugh, the Favored of Rovagug

Breaker of Worlds (a.k.a. The Favored of Rovagug, the Broken Vower)

Buomaugh, the Favored of Rovagug, is the current Emperor, or 'Breaker of Worlds' of the Voglyan Empire. After challenging the Grand Chieftain Shamar to a duel for the throne, he brutally slew the aged warrior to send a powerful message to the people of Gal-Zuug - that the orcs would once again rise to the stars and take what is rightfully theirs.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Buomaugh is in excellent condition for an orc and has shrugged off wounds that might slay another.

Body Features

His body is adorned in tribal tattoos and scripture, speaking of the coming end times and the impending darkness to swallow the whole of the cosmos. A depiction of a writhing, coiled wyrm wraps around his torso, with the great fanged head of Rovagug upon his chest and the tail ending along his spine. Wounds from previous battles line his body, healed naturally and leaving behind hideous scars. Different parts of his skin have odd colorations, appearing bruised.

Facial Features

Buomaugh possesses a jagged cut over his left eye, leaving behind a gnarled eye that remains uncovered. He possesses two tusks, the tip of one is broken off and painted black. He has straight, black hair that hangs down to his chest.

Physical quirks

He is a giant compared to other orcs, considered by Emberite spies to be a 'freak of nature'. His extreme stature combined with his deadly martial prowess leaves his to be one of the most feared opponents of the Voglyan Empire.

Special abilities

Like all barbarians, Buomaugh can tap into a near-limitless supply of rage, further empowered by the destructive whispers of Rovagug himself. He possesses exceptional strength, as seen when he cleaved Shamar - another orc - completely in two during their duel.

Apparel & Accessories

Upon his back, Buomaugh carries the skulls of his victims, fashioned into a shaw with the pelts of slain beasts woven into them. Rugged metal plates act as pauldrons, with a tattered cloak hanging from the skull-adorned shaw. He carries a massive cleaver upon his back, rusted purposely to inflict pain upon his enemy further. He wields dual axes as secondary weapons, each beaten and torn from prolonged use. He has refused new weapons - owing to his destructive nature.

Personal history

Buomaugh, according to reports, was born in 1990 during Gal-Zuug's Season of Earth, where abnormal levels of leyline magic fueled elements to an unsafe level. An earthquake caused by these high levels of energy occurred during his birth, causing damage to his home nation of Violenav-Laukh and inflicting mortal wounds upon his mother during his delivery. Village elders saw Buomaugh's birth as a dark omen.   Much of his life remains shrouded in mystery. During the ending days of the Voglyan Offensive, when the Allied Council Fleet orbited the planet and prepared for a planetary invasion of the super-continent Voglya, a Gorum worshipping blacksmith named Shamar challenged then-Breaker of Worlds Opoguk the Ravager to an oathbound duel to the death. Upon the death mountain of Rova's Peak, the crags and bursting ash from the active mountain created an epic battleground upon which Shamar the Honored slew Opoguk and threw him into the fiery pit. It is rumored that upon that moment, Shamar saw a small figure watching from the ash-coated peak overlooking the battleground - a child. In orbit, more pressing concerns mounted as the might of Iomodae's Cradle prepared to bear down its ordinance to bring the Voglyan Offensive to an end once and for all. Torn between saving the child and signaling for an immediate end to hostilities, Shamar chose to save his people over the child's life. When the Iron Mongers later returned to Rova's Peak to check for remains - Opoguk's bloodied cleaver vanished. At the same time, the leader of the Defiled Corpse, Vra'skom Daafrok, took on an orphaned child.   In 2010, destructive tornados tore across the planet during the Season of Wind. These reoccurring natural disasters often focused on the ancient Voglya ruins, long revered by the followers of Gorum - a warrior god of battle and honor who currently served as the empire's primary deity. In this period, a limited conflict between the Defiled Corpse tribe of Violenav-Laukh and Manavle'uk Nauk-ach's Iron Mongers occurred, as the followers of Rovagug grew impatient with the new ways of Shamar's teachings. The early rumblings of Buomaugh began as the young warrior cleaved through his Gorumite challengers. The fighting resolved in another ceasefire, though a deceitful one - the followers of Rovagug required more time to enact their schemes. Buomaugh, in this time, remained as a dangerous shadow looming over Gorumite leadership as Grand Chieftain Shamar continued his teachings of the struggling empire.   In 2018, the Defiled Corpse tribe's efforts in sowing the seeds of discontent among Voglya's people had reaped much fruit, as grumblings of support came from across the other tribes. The Gaping Maw, Skull Smashers, Sunderers of Mantle, and even the Gorumite's own Iron Monger's clan spoke of Shamar's failure to lead Voglyia in the right direction. Buomaugh's rise into power officially begins here, chosen by the Defiled Corpse to represent them in combat. Into 2019, fighting broke out between the tribes once more, as the Iron Mongers lost ground to the aggressive assaults. The destructive tornados in this period further disrupted the Gorumite soldiers as their supply lines were destroyed or ransacked.   In early 2019, Buomaugh directly challenged Grand Chieftain Shamar to an oathbound duel to the death. Shamar accepted without hesitation, meeting the fearsome warrior in the courtyards of the Blasted Spire - the Voglyan Empire's official capital. Despite his armor and weaponry, the massive orc slew Shamar in honorable combat - brutally bisecting him before the followers of Gorum and the Iron Mongers. Here, the powerful orc claimed the throne for the Defiled Corpse once more and returned the Voglyan Empire to the worship of Rovagug - the true god of the Orcs, the Destroyer of Worlds. He gave himself the same title as his assumed father, the Breaker of Worlds.   In modern times, Buomaugh wishes to expand the Voglyan Empire, conquering the weak nations of the Cradle and taking what belongs to the orcs. He views the recently formed Empire of Embers as their only challenge, preparing for an all-out assault to launch at any moment.
