Bog Rebel

The bog rebel is a low growing herbaceous fruiting berry plant found primarially within the Zol Bogs. It is popular in the local cuisine if for nothing else than the basis for most herbal teas. Culturally it has become associated with several nations and ethnicities. Most well known being the Geria. As a food and medicinal plant it is well revered, and even more so in the fact that it appears impossible to intientionally cultivate in other climes. Leading it to have a mystique of being a wild blessing of the gods not to be tampered with.   The iconic silver striped leaves and purple-red berries have made there way into various forms of heraldry and local symbols. A Bog Rebel pattern of stripes and loops is common as a border on clothing, and extends far from the plants range into areas as far as Soramizu

Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

It grows fairly slowly to a max height of three feet, and can grow in clusters of plants that can cover wide swaths of area.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It heavily needs nitrogen and so it tends to grow near the tall spindly burstweed which acts as a nitrogen fixer in the bogs. This can make harvesting a bit dangerous as burstweed will when disturbed have its seed pods explode with painful slivers and seeds.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

It is popular in the area especially to keep warm and hydrated.   Berries are dried and crushed and used in teas, tinctures, herbal poultices, and meat dishes. Quite astringent they are not eaten by themselves.   While rarely harvested, the roots are also nutritious and made into a porridge for the sick, elderly, or otherwise infirm.

I'm not sure I'd risk exploding seeds to harvest it, but it sounds extremely useful!
