Deep Gypsite

Like other forms of Gypsum this is a useful element in various mortars and construction compounds. This particular variety has the added benefit of blocking or redirecting teleportation when used in significant quantities in construction.   It does pose however some difficulties in retrieval, as it mostly appears deep below the surface and in locations where the air is toxic to most species. This has led to specific gear used to affect the mining in the case of large heavy suits and head domes with organic filters. The most common of which use deep lichen, crimson morel, and wet weed to provide the filtration.   Even with such filtration many who retrieve the Gypsum suffer from side effects, including perpetual coughing and wheezing. Some however seem to have other changes, such as the ability to resist teleportation or counter other magical effects. This is the subject of inquiry by both reasonable and corrupt researchers who have begun to evaluate intentional dosing of both the compounds found in the air as well as the deep gypsite dust.

Properties

Compounds

When ground and added to concretes and mortars it has the property of defecting or misdirecting teleportation.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Used for vaults and military or commercially secure areas to prevent unauthorized access. Both passive forms (requires more of the gypsite), and active forms (requires spell energizing) are common depending on how much material is available.   The vaults of Mountainhold are known to employ a tricky set of walls and deposits of the material to deflect teleportation dangerously to in mid-air, mid-ocean or into pockets of rock with no exit.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Large barges are often shipped across the world as it is an item always in demand.

Storage

Typically in spar form or a powdered form for mixing

Law & Regulation

A few nations have limitations on the use to block teleportation to only those institutions the government deems appropriate to use it. Most nations however have no real mechanism for policing regulation and so generally avoid making any rules on it.
